    4runner camper

That would be really cool for sure...maybe if you could find a wrecked westfalia or other pop-top and try a transplant. Of course you'd have to hack up the 4runner's roof, there must be a way to reinforce the body after surgery (install a rollbar from a 1st gen 4R?). I'd be willing to bet you'd...

Kelly Kettle vs. JetBoil vs. Other Small Stoves: OJ->Real World

Optimus Nova / Nova+ Recall Instead of starting a new thread, figured I'd revive a really old one to keep down the Expo clutter... Heads up to those of you with an Optimus Nova/Nova+ stove: Here's a link to register for the recall: http://www.optimusstoves.com/usen/service/nova-recall/ I got...

Panamericruiser - An Overland Journey through the Americas

Sorry Christian, I've officially derailed this thread  From what I've found, scanner/printers aren't really produced with the traveler in mind. They're some reallly nice (really spendy) scanners & printers that are very compact, but nothing with both features in the same package. We...

Panamericruiser - An Overland Journey through the Americas

Yes, we are going all the way thru South America...maybe even further depending on funds. Sound advice, I will keep it simple and just rely on patience for now :sombrero:

Panamericruiser - An Overland Journey through the Americas

Luis, Scott, & Christian thanks for the info. I understand the need to carry several hi-quality laminated copies, several of these copies definitely should stay locked inside the vehicle at all times. I was more curious if a small printer would be useful for the copies you need "on the spot"...

Panamericruiser - An Overland Journey through the Americas

Would you say it's worthwhile to bring a small printer & paper? Or just make multiple copies of EVERYTHING after a border crossing? I've played with the idea of a printer, but I'd hate occupying precious space over something so trivial...RMP&O, care to comment also?

    Laundry option

Hahaha, no. It's now labeled "lavanderia" with a sharpie... Nalgene use #42: I also have an old red ONE that is used as a road trip bathroom...it's great because when I empty it at a public restroom, it looks like I'm just carrying a red water bottle. I haven't labeled it, but it has rubber...

    Laundry option

I've tried soap and a rock in a nalgene bottle to wash my undies before...worked pretty good. You could even call it a backcountry "shake weight" :coffeedrink:

Water tanks and water storage ideas

This is why i love the 10L dromedary bladders, when empty they hardly take up any space...not to mention, you can use it for backpacking, shower kit makes a decent camp shower/faucet, MSR water filters attach to the bladders threads for when you refill at a sketchy water source. I keep a 10L bag...

$, Peso, Baht, Yen, Yuan, Pound, Lira, Franc...

I love that one. My brother-in-law had the one that looks like photo film. They are very tough wallets and very slim as long as you don't have a ton of cards or money in them. I've been wanting one real bad, for some reason I like the one that looks like notebook paper.

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

Exactly! ...is it selfish of me, to want the entire Pacific coast of Mexico to remain a secret? Sentimental reasons indeed...I can't wait to step foot back into Nayarit, Jalisco, & Michoacan again someday. This time I'm bringing my own board!

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

That's too bad you're turning around. One of my favorite havens from the tourist traps was in La Ticla, quiet fishing community with great surf and the best shrimp burger I've ever had! I'm convinced Michoacan has the best seafood dishes in the western hemisphere. Craziest bus ride of my life...

    1985 Toyota 4runner...Need ideas

Sounds about right if you've got a lead foot. In the city I get anywhere from 15-22mpg. If you're not in a hurry or on the highway enough, I've found the low 20's very achievable...Cruising 45-50mph thru Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons, I averaged 26.5 mpg on a tank of gas. (235/75R/15 tires, 2...

I was just looking at your pictures of Guadalajara. It's been at least 5 years since I was there, and I frequented many of the same places over 2 weeks... I forgot how magical that city can be. Thanks for sharing the experience! Now I know I have to go back soon. The pictures of Tequila brought...

Not mine, not affiliated...figured I'd post it up, since this particular year/drivetrain is highly sought after. Considering it being in Central Texas, should be rust free. http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/2108878932.html (actually in San Marcos, TX about 30 min south of Austin) "85 toyota...
