I saw these awhile ago, but didn't think they'd ever come here. Nice looking and reasonable price. Sold at San Juan Vans in Bayfield, CO (near Durango). Supposedly they are at...
Summary: Test your batteries! One of these performed like it should and the other did not. If you buy from Amazon or a similar retailer (a good idea!), you typically have 30 days to return it. I also suspect that many of these batteries are defective out of the box, and that the glowing reviews...

I think this would have had a lot more utility if they'd made it about 75" tall and 80" wide, with a cabover portion at least 54" long. It appears to be a new mold, too.
Thoughts?
Thought this was an interesting article, in light of many GVWR discussions. Apparently in PA you can get a mechanic to sign off on upping your GVWR so you'll be "legal". I don't know if this is possible in any other state...
This comes up every once in awhile; cheapish, light, simple shell to use for camping. I was bored and did some investigating and came up with these. They all attach to the bed rails. IMO being able to sit up comfortably is the minimum, and I need about 58". The DCU just makes that with the 36"...

Makes a little more sense than the Tacoma based Truckhouse... but not much. Maybe less in some ways, because if you like Fords, a F350 is a no-brainer for something this large...
Thinking of a Maygood window, which is a near or exact copy of the Dometic S4. Location would be directly forward and vertical; nose of the overhead berth on a truck camper.
Bad idea for leaks? Anyone with experience?
Will a MPPT charge controller work ok with a 19v battery? They say 12v or 24v and that they auto-sense. They also have custom profiles... but does anyone know if any will work with an odd voltage within that range?
Why? Because the biggest load on my system will be a laptop computer (max 300W...
The plastic windows are great... except for being easily scratched. That's a big deterrent for me since it happens all the time in the places I go.
I did a search and saw someone mention using canvas. I guess they wrapped it around the outside, tucked it under the seal, then closed the window...

1) Looks good!
2) It's surely over GVWR....
3) Frame and axle are both beefed up so probably ok... but door sticker sticklers won't be happy.
4) Toyota probably won't...
Seems like a good solution for camper access. I don't recall seeing anyone use a ladder like this however. Maybe there is a good reason? What do you think?
Pros: Doesn't stick out too far when open, light, retracts, locks in place (may need further securing though)...
Seems like a decent idea, but I've never heard of anyone doing it, so maybe not! What I'm thinking is having a small fridge (15-20L) and using it only to freeze icepacks... and only when there is sun or the truck is running. It'll be turned off the rest of the time. Food and frozen icepacks will...
Just in the planning stages for now, but I'll be ordering parts and materials soon. I'm posting this to get feedback and ideas. Looks like there are a lot of people on this forum with loads of experience and I'm looking forward to your insights. That means I want your opinions!
