    Tacoma bed (5') storage options

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but you already have a rack that works height wise. Why not add filler panels around the rack legs, essentially creating a custom height cap? It would be an easy task for any metal shop and you already know the size/height works for you.

This has been great reading so far, you've really got me studying the Delorme between Kokadjo and Stud mill.

I see the bridge at 20 Mile is still a mess of busted boards and homeless nails. I was camping up that way Friday night and that wind was horrible.

Dont pick on the new guy.

Well, I prefer a good snatch strap, they differ from a tow strap. A snatch strap will stretch a little during a hard pull, it'll cushion the vehicles involved. A tow strap behaves like a chain, if someone is yanking on it it's violent and sometimes dangerous. Expect to pay a bit more for quality...

Dont pick on the new guy.

Not knowing what you hope to accomplish it's hard to say if 2wd will work for you. A person get get a lot of fun out of a 2wd with cautious driving. I'm in Maine and have covered many a mile in the Great North Woods in a 2wd Ford Ranger with a cap. I always believe tow hooks and a nice strap are...

    Cost of an engine/transmission replacement?

My 2000 Superduty with the 5.4 gas v-8 was $3300 to replace at a shop, including the $300 clutch kit. It came with a 4 year, 40,000 mile warranty.

    Tacoma shopping questions

So I just talked with my local dealership about the truck I looked at yesterday. It's under recall, I'm going to arrange a test drive to the dealership so they can look at the frame (it has holes and missing spots) I'm thinking I might be able to get the truck for a low price and have Toyota...

    Tacoma shopping questions

The dreaded Allagash dust. I used to use pantyhose as a pre filter on my K&N. Now I use the AEM dry flo filters, just tap it clean at camp each night. DaVikes, good to know about the carrier bearings, drive line vibrations drive me nuts. I don't currently plan a big wheel/tire combo, I believe...

    4WD Question

To each his own- I prefer two wheel drive as much as possible (I'm locked front and rear) when poking along in the woods. I like the option to select four wheel drive to back out of troubles and reassess. Growing up in Maine with a two wheel drive Ford Ranger taught me to be comfortable with...

    Tacoma shopping questions

OK, thanks for the input so far. New is out of my budget, I've heard '05 and up are better so that's what I'm thinking, I'm strongly considering buying out of state, Virginia specifically as I have some family down there. I just looked a an '07 at a dealer in "good shape" and was peeling rust...

    Tacoma shopping questions

So after many many years of Jeeps and Fords I'm looking at Tacoma's for my next rig. It will be replacing both my over built TJ Wrangler and my Superduty flatbed. My aim is a light duty over lander. My Superduty is a fuel hungry beast, a leftover from my construction business I sold. My Wrangler...

what do jeep guys like as a truck?

I have a TJ and a flatbed Superduty, they both have their places. That said I'd love to have a 4 door Brute. Since I'm a blue collar worker I think a 4 door Tacoma is more to my budget and would make an excellent truck for me. Anyone want to trade a 4 door Taco for a Superduty and a TJ?

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

Horse slipped on the ice and landed completely upside down in a watering trough. She was stuck in it untill I used my Hi-lift to roll tank onto it's side, freeing the horse.

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

Wow, this escalated quickly. I love the versatility of the Hi-lift jack and as long as you're smarter than it is you'll be fine. In the 20ish years I've owned one I've changed tires, rescued trucks & Jeeps, pulled fence posts & stumps, moved barns, jacked houses and once rescued a horse. Is it...
