Why does no one use a high truck shell?

Mine is just 3/4" square steel welded into a square and an old piece of galv hog panel poorly welded to it. Holes through this side and self tappers into the aluminum. Much sturdier than I expected.... The cover I sewed myself out of the cheapest sunbrella style fabric the local store...

    Let’s see some POWER WAGONS!

Man... I'm always just keeping an eye out, but I found a clean Rover the other day as well as 128k mile, original owner fj60 for stupid cheap and passed them both on to other guys so I really think I might be done! I've had them and they were great! This is definitely where I want to be now...

Why does no one use a high truck shell?

Same. I looked for a long time, this wasn't 100% but the price was right. Bent door came off, toolbox half cut out, and became a dog window, wired lights and outlets in along with a separate small solar system so it doesn't feed off the truck. Currently sitting here drawing on an interior...

    Let’s see some POWER WAGONS!

Two cylinder, air cooled, 600cc Honda!!! It would've fit if not for the wheel wells. It got swapped for this... Which is coming along embarrassingly slowly

    Let’s see some POWER WAGONS!

Really nothing outside of oil changes and brake pads. I was pretty meticulous (for me) about maintenance, oil changes within a thousand miles of when they were called for, etc. The ONLY time it went into the shop was for the exhaust manifold bolt failure that plagues most hemis. Not really...

    Let’s see some POWER WAGONS!

Drove a 2012 for 225,000 miles, right when prices went crazy it worked in my favor and stepped into a 2018. Hope to have it a long, long time

Why does no one use a high truck shell?

Wedge toppers are where it's at. Room for dogs, secure(ish) storage for gear. I found a bent one off a Nissan Titan and made a headache rack/platform for it sit on and it gave me a 1/4 inch plate to mount to inside as well! The only thing miss about fiberglass is it was much nicer to sleep in.

    Intech RV

Yep, thanks. The contact us page referred me to contact the original dealer, the original dealer stated they couldn't access build sheets, etc., and to contact Intech directly... Loop de loop. Got it sorted! I have a walk on roof, on to more building. Nothing like welding in 100+ temps.

    Intech RV

Anyone have a way to contact Intech directly? All the phone numbers I find go to dealers that don't have access and Mr. Offshore hasn't been seen in a while. We purchased a used Explore but I can't find direct contact info for the manufacturer. I was hoping to find a build sheet or VIN number...

One big vs. several small batteries

Ah, that makes sense. They are free and readily available so I may still try, maybe run non essentials off the smaller bank to make sure I don't accidentally kill my main power. But that gets me away from simplicity and I'm not bright enough to get fancy. I'll have to look around and see if we...

One big vs. several small batteries

I've done a little searching and will do plenty more, I promise. I have access to a large number of these. Wired in parallel, 2 groups of 7, I would get 98 amps(+/-). Any downside I'm missing? If one fails the rest should at least get me home, correct? Right now it'll simply run from the main...

1992 RRC ready to build- $2500

I have a 1992 LSE (Light Stone Edition) Range Rover Classic that needs a good home. The LSE was a limited run that came with every option available at the time. The front floors are just starting to rust, the upper tailgate is rusted through, and the lower tailgate has a small, quarter sized...

    1991 Range Rover Questions

"ALWAYS? Lol. Just wait, you cannot always predict what is going to fail. I suspect you mean, Experience with my rrc is so far it has ALWAYS got me home." True of every vehicle, I think. I trust my RRC over my 06 HSE. I'm just saying as far as older SUVs go a well maintained rrc is every...

    LRNR 2015

I've a fair amount of experience off road, its just not in this truck. I've been pleasantly surprised by everything I've thrown at it, but the worst its seen is heavily rutted fire roads or backwoods CO so far. New shoes on both so were good to go. I'm gonna try and make it, me in the rrc and my...

    New rrc owner

Small world... He sold it to a kid that rolled it, there's several defenders in the area now. Enjoy Alaska for me!!

    New rrc owner

I can't imagine. Making up for it in Alaska, now? Lucky devil. If you were still here I'd have you set on a rrc! One sitting here, ready to build, and another soon on its way

    LRNR 2015

How intense are the runs generally? I've been looking the last few days, trying to get my schedule to work with it. Would I even be able to enjoy it in a stock rrc or disco I? 2" lift, 235/85s, the usual I guess... I won't have anything capable built by then

    1991 Range Rover Questions

Electronics and maintenance. Both of those can be a nightmare if not stayed on top of. I don't know as much as a lot of these folks yet, but I've already chased electrical gremlins from one end of a truck to the other. Experience with my rrc is it will ALWAYS get me home. Leaking, creaking...
