It is nice to see the 400-pound, two foot tall bumper fabricated using 6" diameter and 4" x 8" rectangular tubing, so common on F550-based builds, has been left off.
The Landcruiser pictured was TÜV cert at 4.2 tons. Didn't think taking that photo was relevant hahaha. This LC79 also featured the new 2.8L diesel with auto transmission.
Take a page out of the Honda Civic design manual and use a prop rod. I've only recently purchased a car that has gas struts to keep the hood open and they don't do a very good job. A prop rod will never fail and if it does somehow get broken or stolen, is quick and easy to replace. There is...
There's no reason to be objective or sugar coat anything. This guy, Daniel B. Little, a.k.a. DBL Designs, his latest scam, has been screwing people for more than 20 years. He should be rotting in a prison in Haiti...
Fewer gadgets, less weight, less stuff to install, less stuff to maintain, less stuff to buy, less stuff to break, ad infinitum.
There is no free lunch
Kevlar (aramid) and epoxy resin are your friends for abrasion resistance. Back the repair with carbon fiber if you also need high tensile strength. Kevlar isn't nearly as rigid as carbon.
No hablo Espanol.
Materials used to damp reverb, such as acoustic panels in ceilings or on the walls of recording studios or even an anechoic chamber, are again, not appropriate for this application. Presumably, the owner wants to block road noise from entering the cab. Reverb/voices from...
Please do some research on installing multiple sound damping products properly. The idea is to change the resonant (native) frequency of the panel (sheet metal roof or door, for example), to something much lower than the frequencies exciting that panel. It is NOT a good idea to cover everything...
Decanter, this isn't the best angle, but it's the only picture I have saved. You can kindof see the back of the 5.9 Cummins protruding out from under the NPR cab.
The 6.6L V8 isn't that much larger than the aforementioned 6.0L V8 gas engine. While this isn't the engine that came out of the FG, I believe it is the engine referenced by gator70 and the portion of the truck to which I believe he was referring when he used the words, 'All Stock', not the axles...
To aid those who may be interested in searching for, or following this build, you may wish to change 6.6L Durand to 6.6L Duramax and change Dayna Super 60 to Dana Super 60.
Interested to see how this comes out. Fat Boys, a.k.a. Super 60s are rated at 7k, if memory serves me correctly. So...
^^ No, it isn't. You bolting a 6.2 liter LS3 into a Fuso, a Mustang or a Honda Civic and Isuzu bolting that engine into an NPR are quite similar in nature. With the after market support that is available for LS-family engines, GM/Duramax and Dodge/Cummins diesel engines, I would contend that...
