1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

I cut maybe 4 or 5 versions of the curvature out of cereal box until I got the extreme ends to mate to the plastic panel nicely, then did a 3rd cross-section horizontally, then took pics of those curves and then projected them onto planes in my 3D modeling software. That got it close enough...

    2007 Silverado - Buy Once, Cry Once: 1-tons, 40's & a Custom Camper

Which ARB do you have? For what it's worth, my ARB twin does a great job at filling my 40's from ~22psi to 40psi surprisingly quickly.. Like I have to be checking the tire pressure pretty quickly to make sure I don't overshoot 40psi.

Thanks! I'm beyond stoked at how "integrated" it turned out. For the Atlas sticks, I'm in the middle of hashing out decent 3D prints for top caps, with debossed lettering of "F" vs "R" for the left and right sticks, and a little factory-like diagram of "L-N-H" for position. The texture on the...

And then the switch pods and the transfer case shifter trim installed. I'm beyond stoked at how "OEM+" it turned out...

1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

I really like the look of the twin-stick rubber shift boot that comes with the Atlas (and I'm sure many other aftermarket transfer cases), so to start I printed a rigid trim ring to maintain the oval shape of the boot base, as well as be able to secure it down to the main trim ring. Since I...

Next up, was making the rear locker functional with the needed switch. Having used the front locker an extensive amount, I wasn't really hot on having to lean over to the center of the console to hit the button on the Switchpros, to the passenger side of the radio. I have also been less and...

Finally got the ARB locker in the Dana 80, generally no huge hurdles, but there is always something. I took ample measurements of the previous 4.10 gear install, took ample ARB stub/offset measurements, got a good 1st-guess shimstack calculated out, and turns out with the setup bearings the 1st...

Thanks! Feels good to have mudflaps back on it... visually "tames" the back end of the truck even just a little bit (if that's even possible) haha. I have a new D80 pinion seal on the way, and hoping to install the ARB D70/D80 rear locker either this coming weekend or the following weekend...

1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

FINALLY can cross the fabricated bumper off the project list, I figured out quick-detach mudflaps so that whole situation is "turn-key". Until I need to add some angle iron to it somewhere for a synthetic line fairlead for the future rear bumper. The support bracket the mudflap bolts to...

Thanks, we live a happy/quiet life of 2 dogs, and a yard with projects vehicles. She really wants to get a hot tub, but admittedly says it will take up "some of your parking space so probably a non-starter". I said that if I am allowed to find/buy a 1992-1994 GMC or Chevy 3500HD cab & chassis...

    2007 Silverado - Buy Once, Cry Once: 1-tons, 40's & a Custom Camper

It funny because the name Princess Auto seems pretty non-serious, but it's a healthy chain/franchise store for budget every-category-known-to-man tools up here in Canada, essentially the northern version of Harbour Freight in every way. The cheapest tools are still what you'd expect and kinda...

She is also nagging me.... to put a cage in the Nova because "it desperately needs it for how fast it is". That prettymuch sums up her tolerance/acceptance/allowance of my hobby hahaha.

She strongly prefers something turquoise or light green, and it needs to be an automatic. I'm thinking a shortbed 2wd OBS Chevy.

I thought about rigging a pulley/crane for years, but I've only really put it on-off routinely for maybe a 2 year period. The rest of the time beforehand it was on permanently, and now it's realistically off permanently. It's easy to undo the headache rack with 4 stainless bolts, and myself and...

Hah! She is in fact wifey now, and somehow she doesn't evet comment on my 8 vehicles, only saying "well I want a fun 2nd vehicle now too"..!

And finally, the rear tube bumper.. some details: - 3" x 0.25" square tube main base - 1-3/4" x 0.240" DOM tube for all the roundy bits - 4" x 2.5" x 1/4" angle for mounting to frame rails, five 1/2"-20 grade 8 bolts per side, mounting on two planes - 2" receiver tube welded to the 3" square...

Also forgot another failure in Moab, after the last trail of the trip, noticed my hydroboost started leaking P/S fluid. At camp while packing up to head home early the next day, I brakecleaned and filled the hydroboost case bototm drip/vent ole with RTV so it wouldn't leak along my ~2500km...

1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

I knew after getting back from Moab that the very top-priority next mod for the truck was to make a tubular rear bumper (spoiler alert: it's done & installed, will upload details shortly). Because a no-light liceense plate around here is a great way to call attention from the local law...

1998.5 Dodge Ram CTD - Sally

This is the only real damage after 9 days down in Moab (a couple little fender dings.. but at this point that isn't even "damage" haha). I decided at the beginning of the trip that this would be the last outing for the factory bumper (sad, but I've pushed the limit of what I can do with it in...
