So, here my best guess as it’s dark and snowing. Yes,snowing! I went out to the boneyard and my old axle measures 56”. The wheels are 3” from inside rim to outer tire edge ( if that makes sense). So the best I can come up with, while freezing my butt off in the dark, is a total outside...
Just spent a week on the road and was hoping to post some photos of the Batwing in use. However, on the first deployment a 10-12mph gust grabbed it as I was securing the strap on the far side. Both bottom Delrin pins snapped in half. Happy the wife was with me to help unfold the damn thing from...
Sorry for the delayed response. In Federal court all day.
The bolts are standard but the nuts are flat 3/16-1/14” and square to fit in the channels. Not sure what you have local to you but you could probably find something to work.
I’m heading out on a week long trip tomorrow. I can send you...
That sucks! Shouldn’t have accepted it. Mine arrived fine. If you need the brackets PM me and I’ll send you mine as I didn’t use them. I did use the screws though. You’d have to find those at the local hardware store.
Oh, not sure where it’s packaged in the box but they also include an extra...
Great review!
Haven’t used mine much but initial impressions are favorable.
If choosing between a Batwing and a Sunseeker, save your pennies and get the Batwing. Much easier to deploy and pack up with the benefit of more coverage. Literally takes 2 minutes to deploy. About the same to pack...
Just in case anyone ever has the same question as I did, go the same size. You can place the 90* a couple inches forward of the 270* awning without issue. These are two 8.2’ Rhino Rack Awnings.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I guess I forgot those details. D’oh.
This will be going on a FJ Cruiser. RTT is on the trailer so no need to get on top of the vehicle. Just trying to get the Mrs and French bulldogs as much shade as possible.
I have a right side Batwing on order but am starting to wonder if a 90* awning on the left side might be a good addition. Anyone here done this? Positives/negatives? If it’s a go, would you recommend the same size (2.5m/8.2’) for the straight out awning or is going down a size (7’2/2m) better...
Nice! Glad to see the Baja canopy offered for $365. Once my replacement tent gets here I will be ordering one for use in the summer months. I’m anxious to try the zipper gimp functionality.
I started to lower the burner the last few times out and found it a bit easier to control low heat. However, I had a hard time keeping the burner level (lp hose tilting the burner). This spring I was hoping to fab up some spacers to place between the Skottle and the burner to give a 1/2-1” gap...
I had the same issue ('13 FJC w/ 16" wheels). I kept the Dexter's 1/2" studs but used deep splined nuts. The trailer's spline pattern is different than the Toyota splines but the nuts will work with both the Toyota rims and the trailer rims. In other words, I can use any rim I have on either...
No stakes. This is a rooftop tent.
I'm thinking it's sewn a little small and the tightness is causeing the material to wear through. I'm afraid adding any material to pad the inside will only exacerbate the tearing.
Thanks for the response, Adam.
Your assumption is correct, I used the only email listed (sales@...). I'll try the warranty email as you've recommended.
I purchased the tent new through REI the first time they ran their 20% off/free shipping to store sale.
I realize the wear will not cause...
I purchased my tent last spring and used it throughout the summer. This spring I went to set it up and noticed the corners are starting to wear. I emailed Tepui but have not received a response. I'm hoping one of you can provide some advice.
Below are photos of the corners. I'm wondering how...
