UPDATE: It was the manifold upper plenum gasket. The evidence had been staring me in the face for a while, carbon buildup on the outside of the manifold right around the seal. I saw it……ignored it. For a while it was visible but did not cause me any problems. Maybe a manifold bolt came loose...

Glad I took the time to do them. I had just started getting oil burning smell and seeing leaks up top in the last year or so. The old ones were flattened out pretty good.

The EGR valve pipe gets in the way. There is a bolt hiding behind it, once that’s loose it all moves out of the way of one of the valve cover gasket bolts. 👍

Update: injectors were sent out for diagnostics and they all passed with clean bill of health. Still need to complete compression testing. After that, spark tests, then look at injector wiring. Nothing jumping out at me so far.

I wouldn’t call it a misfire if there is no fire…….a misfire creates an unbalanced firing sequence and can be felt and heard usually. I’m wondering how bad of a vibration would be induced by stopping ignition completely. Is that going to be worse than continuing with a misfire?

If the injector electrical is disconnected, no fuel would enter the cylinder so there could not be a misfire, the cylinder would simply be dead……I’m not sure how much the vibration difference would be in terms of the overall engine balance but can it really be worse than my current situation...
