High Output Alternator with CTEK D250s and Smartpass

Thanks for that calculator that should help a lot. Those Magnum Energy units are pretty steep. The 1000W Renogy unit is Pure Sine with 30A charger and 20A pass through, the comparable Magnum unit of similar stats is 2.5x the price, it does have 50A charger but I don't really see a need for it...

High Output Alternator with CTEK D250s and Smartpass

Ok great, thanks for the clarification on all that stuff. We're a bit off topic now but here is my first(well I guess second now) stab at my starting and charging system. I'm still doing some research on proper wire/fuse sizes but the main building blocks are there. Let me know what you guys think.

High Output Alternator with CTEK D250s and Smartpass

Thanks I think I'm starting to get it now. I read through some of the documents you wrote up on your site as well as a few other posts too and they were very helpful. The engine is out of the truck at the moment but I contacted the alternator manufacturer and they said it would supply 12.8-14.6...

    1958 Dodge Power Wagon M43 - $50000

I am starting to realize there are drawbacks to every expedition vehicle, half of the expedition campers on this site can be described using at least three of the following adjectives; too big, too slow, too loud, too uncomfortable. For me there are a few things I'm looking at(in no particular...

    1958 Dodge Power Wagon M43 - $50000

This price seems a little outrageous but looks like a well done rig. Does anyone have any experience with these as an expedition vehicle? http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/5547594572.html Impressive Dodge Power Wagon Ambulance "AMBO". Restored and modernized by Legacy Classic Trucks...

    1975 Mercedes 309 Camper Possibilites

Well unfortunately it was a good from far, far from good situation, I went and saw today and the rust was going to be a big issue, it had been sitting for a while, he didn't know if the fridge or stove worked (which means they don't). The interior wasn't as bad as it looked in the pictures but...

    1975 Mercedes 309 Camper Possibilites

I found a bunch of stuff at the link below in Germany but I would have to import to California, which is a mess. I have no idea what the cost to import is but I feel like the import taxes, shipping, and then import service fees would be at least $3-4k which kind of negates the price difference...

    1975 Mercedes 309 Camper Possibilites

Guys thanks for the feedback. So I never get a response from that seller but just came across another one a few days ago. This one is 1972 with an asking price of $14k which seemed crazy given the condition of the interior, I have talked him down to $10.5 but I am having trouble justifying that...

    1972 Mercedes 309D Decision

I already know I'm crazy for looking at a vehicle that has a top speed of 60 MPH downhill with a tailwind but I need to know how crazy and if anyone has any idea about pricing on these guys? I have researched what I can but there just isn't a huge sample size on these things. The interior is in...

    1975 Mercedes 309 Camper Possibilites

Totally new here but I'm in the market for a expedition camper. I came across this Mercedes 309D camper and love the look of it. Just curious if anyone knows if it s possible to do a 4x4 conversion on these and if so then I'm sure something would need to be done with the already under-powered...
