Help me understand suspension and tires benfits on F350 w 2000lbs truck camper

The tires are Cooper AT3's in stock size and truck is a 2015 Ram Hemi. Sticker simply says recommended pressure - 60 front 80 rear cold. Its a 10 ply tire with stiff sidewalls. Anything below 65 in the rear on the highway is awful. I suspect your Tundra is lighter by a bit.

Another 2020 Ram 5500 Flatbed Camper Build

I've had an Alumaline flatbed for almost 6 years and 125000 miles. The company makes a good product but the CEO is a total a*#hole and that drives the culture.

Help me understand suspension and tires benfits on F350 w 2000lbs truck camper

The recommended tire pressures from Ram on the door sticker is 60 front, 80 rear. Empty, I might agree but running the rear tire pressure the same as the front when the camper is on and loaded creates a pretty rough ride. I've experimented with a lot of different front/rear tire pressure...

Help me understand suspension and tires benfits on F350 w 2000lbs truck camper

I have a Ram 3500 with a Bundutec Flatbed Camper that weighs just over 2000 pounds. I have consistently run Cooper AT3's that are 10 ply with a load rating of 3640 pounds. They last a long time (50k plus) and arent noisy as they wear like BF Goodrich's. I have upgraded the shocks and added a...

    StoryTeller Discount on 2023 stock

At the Truck Camper Rally in February, I spoke with two vendors who switched from building vans to truck campers. Their van market used to be a several year wait and sourcing vans was very challenging. They made the switch when their orders dropped off significantly and the van dealers were...

    EarthCruiser is closing!?!?!

My bet its not a bank or credit union but an outfit like Trident Funding which is a big RV, boat and plane lender.

    EarthCruiser is closing!?!?!

I've had clients with massive amounts of liquid capital and none of them would go near that deal ever. They would offer cash in lieu of a significant discount and most would have them owned by a trust or one of their companies so its a write off. As for vintage car investing, that too is not...

    EarthCruiser is closing!?!?!

On the latest Overlander News, there's an ad from Storyteller Overland about their lineup of vans for 2024. The ad is a perfect example of why many of the overlanding business models are unsustainable...

To Pop Up or not to Pop Up?

Check out Alaskan Campers. Best of both worlds and since they've been building them for 50+ years, there are used ones available.

I have a cheap Amazon one that has worked for years. Its plugged into a Jackery which is charged when the truck is running.

    Bison Overland Flat Bed Build

I've had an Alumline Flatbed for almost 8 years. I 100% agree that their customer service sucks but the build was spot on and 125k miles later, everything still works. I know some folks that have had them build several trailers over the years with no complaints. That said, if they weren't so...

    How to camp with dogs!

Our cattle dog Raven has made multiple crossings of the US and has been as far north as Tuk and as far south as Baja. I always carry her latest vet papers and she has free reign of half the back seat. I'm pretty sure she'd rather be traveling than doing just about anything else.

Refrigerator for RAM crew cab backseat

I removed the rear seats in my Ram 3500 for more storage for gear and the dogs and installed one of these from Amazon. F40C4TMP Portable Refrigerator, 30 Quart (28L) 12 Volt Freezer, (-7.6℉~50℉) Works great and doubles as a place for the dog to sleep on.

    INEOS Grenadier

"The idea that an LC200 or a 4Runner or even a VW can't be driven off the lot to the north slope of Alaska without tens of thousands of dollars in modifications but a Grenadier somehow can is not accurate" I'll second that. I drove the Dempster up to Tuk a month or so ago and it rained for...

In Praise of the Humble Rental Car

We spent 6 weeks in Europe a few years ago and if you drop the car in a country different from pickup, the drop off fees can be hundreds of Euros. Based on research I did, for any rental over two weeks, you might be better off buying a car. Auto Europe (https://www.autoeurope.com/) had a deal...
