    Small vs big

It's not the size of your van, it's what you do with it. Phallic reference aside, I have both extremes. A "mini" van (2014 Transit Connect) and a "mega" van (1991 G30 EB). The smaller van is really nice for over night trips with just my girlfriend and myself. We can haul any gear we need...

    I'M BATVAN! ...a 2006 E350 V10 DIY Ujoint Conversion

It's weird how many screen names I see on here that I recognize from import forums. I guess it's the natural evolution of things. Small, fast cars to big, heavy vans.

    Wayfarer Vans minimalist conversion kit

You nailed it right there. The whole PNW is full of people with a lot of money, a lot of dreams, and absolutely no mechanical aptitude. They want the style/functionality of the westy, but can't replace a head gasket, set valve gaps, or adjust points. I think places like this forum forget that...

    Wayfarer Vans minimalist conversion kit

Seems like a pretty neat kit, but it doesn't seem like there would be a lot of sleeping room.

My latest Eurovan build "Snap Dragon"

I don't mean to thread jack, but I'm hoping I'm not the only one with this question... How do you use the yeti to power the maxxfan? There's doesn't seem to be an (obvious) way to get anything but USB or 120v power out of it.

My latest Eurovan build "Snap Dragon"

Using the Yeti is a brilliant idea! I think I may look into doing that when I start redoing my electrical system this week. It would be way cleaner than all the crazy parts and pieces I was thinking about using.

Take that, Gloria! (1991 G30 Conversion Van)

Went out to take some interior pictures. Ended up finding the switch to make the bed fold out. Decided to try and fix that first and found out that the whole electrical system currently has 24v going through everything, which means that the house battery is hooked to the starter batter in...

Take that, Gloria! (1991 G30 Conversion Van)

A roll of Reflectix came in the mail last night. After a couple hours of walking around and catching invisible monsters (pokemon), I was able to knock out the two rear windows. Tonight, I'll try to work on the high top windows and sunroof. Goal is to have all of the non tinted or non...

Take that, Gloria! (1991 G30 Conversion Van)

Ended up at the Grandview Campground by the Lower Mesa Falls for Saturday night. We were treated to a nice lightning storm in the middle of the night and headed home in the rain. My daughter tested out the hammock, I guess it passed the test.

Take that, Gloria! (1991 G30 Conversion Van)

I really like it. The back half of my van has no lights so we left it in the bag and hung it from one of the grab handles while we got ready for bed. We also used it to finish a game of mölkky when the sun got too low. My only criticism is the battery pack you can buy it with has it's own...

Take that, Gloria! (1991 G30 Conversion Van)

Good weekend camping. Didn't get to use the Hobo Hammock, but the Trasharoo and the Luminoodle were definitely solid investments. The Trasharoo is a little big on my spare tire, but I was able to get it cinched down good and tight after some messing with the straps.

Just ordered a Trasharoo, a Luminoodle, and a Hobo Hammock. Should be here in time for our rather short notice camping trip with some friends this weekend. Thanks, Amazon Prime!

From company cargo van to family camper

Where else would you camp? Especially with the little ones? My daughter is very anti camping anywhere without a decent toilet. Which I understand, but it kind of forces us into state or private camp sites with developed facilities.

Attack of the new mini vans

FWIW, I own a 2014 Transit Connect LWB as my "daily" van. I don't know if I would ever use it as more than an overnight camper. There's about a full size bed worth of space in the cargo area. It's enough that my girlfriend and I can sleep in it, but without a ton of space for other gear...

No idea. I think they ended up buying the top and canvas from Colorado Camper vans, but doing a lot of the fabrication for the bed and stuff themselves.

Courage! I don't really know what got me into vans. I've had a strange attraction to them as long as I can remember. When I owned my first VW bus that really put the nail in the coffin though. Everything I've bought since has been a van.

There's a shop in Boise called Throttle Works that did the penthouse top on my friend's camper van. Might be a good place to get in contact with if you need help with it.

What kind of awning/mounts are you using? I'd like something like that for my van, but I haven't been able to find gutter mounts.
