Since you already have a seal in need of repair, why not just start the tear down process to service the front axle and see if you find anything noticeable. My guess would be a worn birfield or drive flange plate.

I have a 99 with the 4 speed. Towing our 3,000 camper makes me want to try a 5 speed. I think the tighter ratios would give a better experience, not that I really have any complaints though. Without Kurt knowing, I took his advice and bought the best one I could afford. An older 100 fits my...
