    Show your Thumper!!

I'm ever trying to streamline my setup, did the Ridaho Grit 3 in Aug and have transitioned to a lightweight backpacking setup, 5 days, camped 2 of them, down into the low 20's one night. Ended up 5 days @ 750 miles of some of the more difficult singletrack in central/southern ID, got up to 10k...

100% agree on the last part and makes complete sense, I do the same.

Update on the new Mini FJ…coming to the USA soon?

Why are they calling it a "G class rival", it's nothing of the sort, what am I missing? If it is based on the LC then it's going to be the size of the BB with the drivetrain of a much heavier duty platform....

You keeping backing down from you original comment: "Speaking of suspension. No, my dear friend, a stock 2500 or 3500 can not take 37" tires. Even the vehicle you show in that video is lifted, has a body kit and wheel flares. I can only imagine it has a big brake kit as well. So after adding...

If you wanna use a food analogy, he asked for healthy food and ordered a dozen donuts, is it wrong to recommend a chicken salad if it better meets his requirements? These people travel all over the world in a full size Ford but I guess they should of talked to you first...

I didn't make the diesel mechanic comment amigo. Fuel consumption is largely a factor of power requirements - hook 10,000 lbs to a LC70 it's going to use about the same amount of fuel as a domestic diesel pickup. Driving around unloaded, LC70 wins, it's lighter duty and weighs a lot...

I spent some time in Aus - they loved Raptors when I was there, if you had money, it seemed like that was what you bought and not a LC70....

I'm not going to address all the random stuff you are saying - the original post, page one, post #1 "Longing for what we can’t have. At least here in the USA...." I followed that up by saying how is a domestic rig lacking "having that"? Nothing you've said in your multiple diatribes has...

I know it's absolutely wild the prices, the first gen Dodges seem to be driving a lot of that. With that said did you see the FZJ75 on the top of the page for sale? It's local to me, 353,000 km, almost $100k! https://expeditionportal.com/classifieds-toyota-land-cruiser-troopy-2/ I don't get...

LOL - ok, so the mines should go buy old beat up cruisers from the 2000's? We are talking new rigs - it's been beaten to death on here and IH8Mud, you can't get new cruisers street legal outside of a few workarounds if newer than 25 yrs. Again - I was talking domestically, FJ40/FJ60/FJ80 parts...

JC you write a lot and are going in a bunch of different directions....but it's easy to upgrade a Ram / Ford for big tires and not expensive, you can almost fit them stock. The point was to modify a 2500/3500 rig to fit big tires + haul a big load it's a piece of cake the platform can handle...

    Dedicated Snow Tire

I've heard good things about the Baja Boss, embarrassingly I actually have them on my Ram 2500 starting last summer, the tall skinny ones (255/85R17), but took them off to go with with dedicate snow tires for winter.....how do they work in glaze ice and hard compact snow? I imagine they work...

    Dedicated Snow Tire

Here in Central Oregon we get snow and ice on the reg and dedicated snow tires are a must for the glaze ice we get along with traffic jams up to the mountain where you are forced to stop/start on inclines. I've had several AT tires over the years, snowflake rated, not remotely close to...

Lots of reasons - none of the LC's are street legal in the states so they couldn't drive outside on any surface streets. Regardless - go look at big ranches, zero LC's, they use what they can get worked on and what is easy to get parts for which is not a LC that was never sold here in the...

It was in reference to the USA - use inside underground mines is dictated by physical constraints. In open pit mines like you mention, again in the USA, you see domestic trucks. Of course in Australia it's LC's, it's what is available and known and been used for years so it makes sense.

Lots of guys like the Rams in Aus too - they have a clear payload advantage and can handle much larger tires due to their clearance and bigger/stronger axles over a 70: People go all over the world with Unimogs, I think a Ram 3500, single cab is somewhere between a Mog and a LC70. What...

The only reason the LC's are used in mines are the physical size - there are some manuf. making custom mine trucks (name escapes me) that is basically the size of a 70 and uses domestic parts. I think you are confusing reliability and capability, for abuse without maintenance not much beats a...

    Engine recommendations for cold climate

Re; weight of diesel over gas being an advantage, you could also argue that gives the gas an advantage since it gives you the capacity to start adding bumper + winch + battery, at which point, a gas rig probably has as much weight over the front as the diesel does stock. I WISH I had the lever...

New FORD Ranger SUPER DUTY (Global Market)

My comment was in response to folks saying they want it here in the states. I did see full size pickups in Aus when I was there a few years back but I know they are prohibitively expensive.
