Check Will Prowse’s Youtube channel. He does great teardowns and rigorously tested review. Don’t know if he’s done these though.
But by the time you buy two of these, wouldn’t you just be better off crying once and buying a BattleBorn you can trust? They’ve been dropping prices lately. I...
No customization to event, but otherwise pretty great radio. We really like ours and it checks most of your other boxes I think.

Thanks for the update! Its good news, but now have a Tundra that has very comfortable seats for me, and sadly don’t see they make products for the Tundra on their site. But I do have an ‘18 4Runner with sucky seats, so I still may do the SMs!
Edit: I wonder if the electric harnesses and...
Have you considered splitting these up? The NL DCDC 25 power packs are great — I’ve had one for 4 1/2 years, but most people want LiFePo batteries now days. Might get a quicker sale for closer to the value of power pack if you don’t chain it to the AGM battery, not that Odysseys aren’t great...
Seems like the cool thing about this is that you could use a completely different fan motor if they keep not updating the motor to a brushless design . . . assuming one could find the right motor. Is that a correct read?
True, and the framing tubes are 2”x1” in most places, with very stout corners. The TIG welding is perfect. I’ve been in both shops, and the Ovrlnd is definitely made stouter. In 4 1/2 years with lots of use, I have had zero structural issues or concerns. You can also Rivnut into the Ovrlnd...
Well, sure! That truck is waaaay more than you need for an Ovrlnd. BUT, so what? If you have the truck already and you like it and you like the Ovrlnds and you want maximum use of your truck bed space and you’re happy doing your own build out and customization — just go for it.
OTOH, if...
@ramblinChet — That looks like a great bypass solution. Just to clarify — the rocker switch is for the automated lid opening? Or is it just power on off with an unused setting? And this replaces/bypasses the entire MaxxFan circuit board?
Great write up and photos. Thanks! I think my biggest problem was reassembling the brush cap first and trying to insert into the casing. Will try the “reverse” way you’re doing.
I’d love to have a working spare on hand, so worth fiddling with some more . . .
Thanks — that’s very helpful. I’ve been wondering about whether a rebuild could be functional. Maybe you could say a bit more about the cleaning and re-assembly procedure you find works best? I had real trouble getting my old fan back together. I still need to try it on a 12v source to see...
Yeah, it's hard to get just the right size step bit. IIRC iI was using a metric one. I also had luck with 1/2" regular bit, but not the pilot point one — it really grabbed at the edges of the channel.
When you get the top latch added, please post a picture. I’m still thinking of adding some...
Take the short drive to Flagstaff and visit Ovrlnd Campers. No show room, but you can see how they build them. Great folks and a great camper product if you’re not looking for travel trailer to drop in your truck bed. Mine has never had an issue or leak in 4+ years of use.
