heavy steel bumper vs oem bumper damage

Is that a one off (and did you make it?) or does some company make them? I used to have a 5/8” UHMW tranny skidpate on my built Tacoma that was great. It would deform a bit on hits or rocks, but slide over and bounce back. It was just a flat sheet, well anchored, but I can see how a well...

Welding a cage to a hacked up Toyota Tundra truck bed - tips and ideas? Project Super Chinook

+ 1 on this ⬆️. The bedsides are an integral part of the strength of modern truck beds. The minute you attempt to remove the bedsides you lose the structural integrity of the floor, which isnt great to start with.

If you look at my linked post on the previous page in post 852 it shows and describes the bulkhead bench I put in. It goes all the way across, but we left about 1/4 of it open on the Pside for vertical storage. With an insert and pillow it also can serve as a bed for my 5’2” wife with me...

+1 on TNutz, and other good advice from @flydream. This is a (kinda long) post on how I built my extrusion structure if it helps. Its easier if you can do your own cut to length and drill\tap as needed. I used a table saw with steel demon blade and had a drill press which really helped...

Sanity check before I run new wire

Since that looks like its gonna be exposed to the elements a bit (?) you might want to check out a pair of these: https://powerwerx.com/anderson-36055p2-sb50-environmental-boot-source I have a pair waiting to be installed and they are very well made.

    Project M competitors?

I can tell you they are extremely robust in construction. 2”x1” 1/8" welded aluminum frame (with beautiful weld quality) and plenty of lateral and side to side suport (eg, the rear barn doors are anchored into a column on each side, not just a simple corner, and the entire cabover “layer” is...

You’re better off calling Deaver and giving them some info on the weight you want to support and the lift you want. Keep in mind that Deavers are designed to be very progressive and responsive for off-road performance. On my Tacoma, the Deaver 8 pack (IIRC) was great for performance when not...

Sure, glad to help. Yeah, think you’ll be fine with the 10 speed and turbo. The Cooper Stronghold AT seems like a slightly more offroad pitched and agressive tire with the 3Peak snow rating, which I don’t think the AT3XLTs have. Interestingly, there’s no real weight penalty at the same size vs...

So, my opinion based on ZERO F150 experience, but having built two offroad vehicles for both light overland as well as more involved and difficult trails is that the tires and springs are exactly the two most critical and first things to be addressed. How far you go with both depends a bit on...

I’ll second this. 3 1/2 years in, mine has had zero to complain about. It fits my needs very well. Rugged as can be, but light as well. Looks industrial, but flawless construction. Highly customizable from Ovrlnd and then further highly customizable by you. Built to your truck and needs...

That pic is someone’s homemade camper. It wasn’t from EP, and I don’t recall where I saw it — I just liked the configuration and took a screen shot to remind me.

I’m glad you mentioned this. I spoke to Jay when we stopped by in Flag last month and talked a bit about a flatbed. He said they didn’t put a floor in and I was really wondering how they sealed it against water and dust. I get that it’s not that different than sitting on a bed rail, but in...

    What Tundra do you recommend?

I went with a ’21 DC SR5 from my 2009 Tacoma. 50% for being able to handle a light poptop camper and 50% to get some comfort in seating as well as the 6.5’ bed. I made sure to get the premium SR5 package to get the 38 gal gas and upgraded seating. The platform has been fully tested for a...
