    New Trailer Build Thread

After a fall vacation and a crazy few weeks I decided to get this thing finished up. My garage was a mess though and i had equipment all over the place so i figured ibetter finally put together a welding cart. I'm now welding up the brackets for my awning. That will totally complete the exterior.

Finally got my build finished (on the exterior at least). Still need to install the fridge and electrical. https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/new-trailer-build-thread.194967/

This arrived today. Also got most of the aluminum trim cut and ready for paint. Painting and installing trim in the next couple days then need to get electrical and the fridge installed.

Painted the hardware and bolted on one of the toolboxes today. Didn’t have enough aluminum angle for the trim, so I’ll be buying some tomorrow so I can get the trim on.

Out of curiosity, what does a trailer like that cost?

I think I’d take it back and insist that they remove all of the trim, weatherproof it, and then retrim it. If they refuse I’d just get my money back.

No. Just tacked it every foot or so. But the line-x guys caulked it before they sprayed it and I’m also going to add aluminum corner trim with a heavy bead of silicone on all corners of the trailer. Plus the roof sheet overlaps the entire 2 inches of the frame on all sides, so between the...

    New Trailer Build Thread

I've definitely not gone the low cost route. The wheels and tires were almost $1k, Timbren instead of axle, lock-n-roll hitch, line-x instead of paint, heavy duty drawer slides for cooler, etc...

First look with Line-x done. Dennis at Red Desert off-road in St. George did a fantastic job. I’ll get more detailed pics later. Realistically, it’s ready to use right now, but it will get black corner trim and black hardware in the next few days. A bunch of exterior accessories still to come also.

Yours looks great. I actually already have an awning sitting in my garage waiting for install. I went with the Overland Pros Wraptor 2000 since the price was amazing. Hopefully it holds up. I think I have the brackets figured out. I’m using perforated telescoping square tube and will mount the...

Thanks! I’m like $4500 into it I think. You could certainly save a ton of time going the prebuilt route, but I had a blast building this thing. My day job is as a lawyer, and I swear one of the things I looked forward to everyday was getting home to get some work done on the trailer. The other...

Options for stabilizer jacks for an overland teardrop style trailer!

I went with weld ons. It’s great to be able to just stow them when not in use.

Just dropped off for line X coating. Pick it up in a week (I had to take it to St. George for the coating, so I won’t be able to come get it until next Friday.)

Well, the construction is complete and I have a title and VIN. I’m dropping it off tomorrow morning for Line-X and then all that’s left is trim and accessories. I can’t wait to take it for its maiden voyage.

Telescoping tube/assembly for raising and lowering awning

Cool. I’ll check out the Cabelas poles. Another thing I’m considering is a telescoping set of this square tube (in 2”x2”x1/8”) since I really only need a couple feet of travel.
