Has anyone fastened anything to the exterior forward wall of the camper? That’s the wall that is right up against the cab of the truck, under the camper‘s over-hang.
There’s not a ton of space, but I noticed there is enough space for a traction pad / maxtrax to fit there. You can’t see from...
My apologies for not getting back to this thread sooner! I mis-configured my notifications and hopefully have them fixed.
The idea of going DC to AC to DC seems a bit odd but I have to admit, I do like the cabling simplicity. If I follow, to charge my battery rapidly in a pinch, I could turn...
Those terminal blocks look perfect, thank you very much for that product recommendation, I had no idea such things existed and I really wanted to avoid drilling, cutting, and otherwise hacking on my brand new truck!
Does your Orion XS pull a consistant 50 amps when the coach battery is low? Or...
I upgraded to a 2024 F350 for my slide-in camper. It has dual batteries, a 410 amp alternator, and the upfitter switches option.
I'd like to wire up a DC-DC charger load -- dual 50 amp DC-DC charge controllers (Victron Orion XS 12/12-50A) wired in parallel, and operator-controlled by an...
Sorry I didn't have the rig handy to check: No, I don't have a shark fin. There is a little sensor on the roof exterior, kind of above the passanger headrest area, but it doesn't protrude up any higher than the rear cyclops brakelight assembly, which is basically flush with the roof.
On my 2018 Tundra (what is that, 2.5 generation?), my OEV dealer used an assembly consisting of the stock OEV "donut" bumpers against the bed of the truck, and then a standard hockey puck above it, and longer bolts going into the threaded inserts on the bottom of the camper. That's quantity...
- Replacing gas shock / gas struts / lift supports / gas springs -
My pop-top slams shut HARD. Edit: The new springs absolutely helped this problem; money well spent. So hard that the bezel of the ceiling fan pops off with regularity. I think it's time to replace the gas springs. OEV...
I'm upgrading my truck and don't need the OEV bed mounting kit. If anyone needs one, let me know. It's too big and heavy to ship, so local pickup only in San Francisco bay area / Reno / Tahoe area.
The Tundra has a non-standard bed mounting bolt pattern, so this is a custom bracket designed...
I was super under-whelmed with "savings" on the the show vehicles. What a rip off. If you can afford a new OEV camper and built it to your spec, I don't think it's worth saving 3-5% for a show vehicle unless it has exactly the features you do want, and none of the features you don't want.
I‘m not sure beefier gas struts are able to ease the initial lift, or the final slam, of the roof. That was the problem for me. From the way they are positioned, it seems like they only assist the roof open/close process in the middle of the work band — not at either end. I could be wrong...
Update: The 40 pounds was no go.
To simulate 40# of rooftop solar, I decided to put a 10 pound water jug on each of the four corners of the roof, and then tried to lift it. While I could lift it up without veins bulging out of my forehead hulk mode, it wasn’t exactly easy, and I don’t think...
Can we talk roofs for a minute?
First of all, I’m planning to add 40 pounds of solar panels to the roof -- that’s 4, 10 pound semi flexible 200w panels pretty much evenly dispersed across the roof surface; two on the rear and two on the front. Has anyone added this kind of weight overhead? Is...
Thanks for the info on the faucet! The drain still sucks, but this faucet is a step in the right direction. As much as I don’t like supporting Amazon and its weird off-brand products … this faucet really makes sense. Maybe one of these days I’ll pull the drain piece out and spend a day...
@MisterSmith I’ve been wondering if the GC3 would fit in the stock battery box, and I just stumbled across your post where you managed to do it! Can you confirm what year your OEV is? I have a 2021 “CampX” 6.85.
If you have any more photos or details on getting the GC3 into that battery box...
Ever camper sink I've ever used has a slight downward indentation where the drain sits. And then the drain itself, it sits perfectly flush with the surface of this sink indentation. The end result is that, even if you're parked at a slight angle, the sink drains dry.
Now on my 2021 CampX, the...
I am astonished at the wealth of information and detail in this thread! This is great, a big thanks to everyone who has contributed.
I just toured the inside of the two campers I'm looking at, the Supertramp Flagship LT and the Overland Explorer Vehicles Back Country 6.85". I find myself...
