Montero Gen 2 (1996) aftermarket suspension options?

Lovells springs (up to 1.5” lift) from Luso Overland, with some Bilstein shocks (either 4600 or 5100) is a tried and true combo. Lovells torsion bars from Luso as well, if you want to be extra fancy.

    2000 Mitsubishi Montero

It pains me to make this post, however recent financial events have made it that I have to sell 2 of my cars ASAP. So the Montero and Jeep JK have to go. What we have is a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Endeavor Package. This is a gen 2.5 Montero, one of the “widebody blister fender Monteros” that...

Next up was the winch. I highly recommend the ADD winch plate. It's a direct fit and piece of cake to install, provided you can weld. For winch, I decided to go with the Badlands Apex 12k w/synthetic. I've had Warns in the past, but didn't see too many bad reviews online for this one, so thought...

    “Terminator” Gen 2.5 Build

Next, I got on to installing my onboard TRE air compressor. The gen 2.5's engine bay is super cramped, one of the only spots is in the back right portion of the bay. Chad Lampson offers a gen 2 bracket, which is a near-direct fit for gen 2.5, with just some minor modifications. Here's the link...

Got my CB radio installed as well. If you remove the reading lights, there's a very nifty metal bracket already in place, with 2 "pre-drilled" holes. Very straightforward install, and no need for for drilling into your roof. For the antenna, I used a firestik, mounted on the rear door hinge as...

Got my Aisin manual hubs installed in preparation for the 4.9 gear swap. It's a very simple job, but here's a video by a fellow gen 2 owner explaining how to do it: IF you mess it up, or take the hubs apart more than you need to, you may run into an issue where they will engage but then not...

Has anyone successfully installed a Tre E locker? (TE110 Front Locker)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but you cannot fit a selectable front locker in the stock front diff. Most get around this by swapping in a non-disconnect front carrier from an AWD Montero Sport.

    “Terminator” Gen 2.5 Build

My TRE lockers have arrived. Now just have to track down some 4.9s out of a Montero Sport…. In other news, my front diff started leaking all of a sudden. Hopefully I can hobble it until I find those gears. ?

03/31/2022: That about should bring it up to date. Next major steps are installing Lovells springs (raised height, medium duty) and cranking up the torsion bars a bit. Also, purchased a set of TRE air lockers front/rear and compressor. Will be installing that as soon as I can get my hands on...
