Thanks! Sorry for the delay, haven't been around in a while. I have a 105AH Lithium battery , 200 watts of solar with a 20 amp MPPT controller, a 20 amp DC to DC charger while driving and a 10 amp noco charger for when I have shore power which is basically just for topping off at home. Also run...
I ditched a pintle setup for the lock n roll. all you have to do is get it close and drop it in. My biggest reason for picking the LnR over the MaxC was ease of hookup. https://locknroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/New-LNR-Animation-273-x-205.gif
Made another successful trip, this time 3500 miles total from Louisiana up to Colorado and back. Luckily for me the passenger front wheel bearing went bad on the FJ 2 weeks before leaving for our trip. I say lucky because changing it at home was way better than the alternative of fixing it on...
Thank you. I had kept up with cost pretty good until recently. It should be around 8500.00 now. That's including everything. Good luck with your build!
Today I added a second awning and replaced the blown out original shocks. I didn't realize how bad they was until I took them off, they're damping abilities was non existent, lol. Did some test driving today and it's a noticeable difference going down the road.
Made a few changes. Added some more decals to the camper and redone the roof rack using 1 x 2 aluminum tube. Also added airbags to the rear of the FJ. No more sag when towing.
Just got back from Big Bend NP, did 2200 miles in 7 days! If you never been to BBNP I highly recommend it. It was our first time and I was blown away. Speaking of blown away otw home I noticed both shocks leaking on the trailer. About the only thing I hadn't replaced yet. Also added some new decals.
Thanks! We live in an elevated home on the bank of a wild river so I wasn't hanging around for a monster like Ida. It was the first time I've ever evacuated and was glad we did. Luckily all we had was a few trees down and a few shingles missing and no electricity for 3 weeks. I do admit though...
Finally got a chance to weigh it. Unhooked on the scales to make sure to get the full weight. Ended up weighing just about what I thought it should. 2180lbs loaded with most of our gear. The tongue weight is 250lb. Also got it cleaned up for the next trip.
This was my first try at FG and if you saw the camper up close it is not perfect. I could've spent more time on it and perfected it but that was never my goal with the FG. It was to add rigidity and waterproofing. I did use a faring compound from totalboat to help level out a few spots and with...
Finally got the camper camp worthy one day before Ida rolled in and wrecked our state. We decided to take the camper for a little test run up into Arkansas to evacuate Ida. It was so awesome and satisfying to finally get to use it and see it in action. I couldn't be more happy with the way it...
I fiberglassed all the seams with a 4" wide 6oz cloth. After that I used 4.5oz cloth over the entire exterior, making sure to overlap the seams at least twice while doing so. The top has 2 layers of cloth on it running opposite directions. So all in all i ended up with at least 3 layers on...
