    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

But the 2UZ is legendary, and super simple, just did plugs on mine last weekend, took me 29 minutes from start to finish :)

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

Exactly, I feel the same way. 10 years ago, no question, I’m going Toyota. I’ll still look, but not an automatic decision like it used to be.

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

Back on topic, this was an interesting video, that short bed reg cab is so sweet! It was a bummer though to see a lot of the cost cutting (and maybe more importantly, weight reduction) in the new models, but all manufacturers are doing that. Love this guy’s videos.

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

Not realistically for everyone. It’s not that simple. Perhaps auto parts are different, as I assume that is mostly machine, rather than human labor, but for example, I am in the business of rock climbing footwear. Every single pair, regardless of brand, of rockclimbing shoes are put together by...

Definitely will do. I got an 8 foot slide in.

    Lemker Overland Introduction

Very happy with my Bison Overland Camper. Happy to purchase a well made camper that is made from panels made in the USA, from superior products. I start on the build out of the interior next week.

What rig is best for Pan-American highway?

The 4Runner uses the 1GR 4.0 V6, it was used in 200 series Land cruisers, but it's probably the most reliable engine Toyota has ever made, and will not need parts. Just consumables that could be taken with you from N America.

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

That's a great perspective. I agree that Toyota will certainly take care of you better than any other manufacturer when things do go wrong. Thanks for the response!

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

I don't doubt it, though I question the efficacy of CR. There are many other known issues with the 5.7 (I've had 3 now, and have had issues with all of them, with only one over 100k miles). They are well known to go through water pumps, quickly, the valley coolant leak (two of mine had this) and...

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

I couldn't agree more. Very well said. Additionally, to be the most reliable, and most well made, doesn't necessarily mean you need to hit any target of reliability and 'well made-ness,' you just have to be more reliable and well made than your competitors. Which I still believe they are in the...

    Toyota Losing it's Mojo?

For fun: First off, I'm a Toyota fanboy through and through. I'm a car nut and I have a bad habit of owning lots of vehicles. I currently own a 1st gen Tundra and have owned a 200 series, a second gen Tundra, a GX 460 and 470, several Prius', 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas, more 5th gen 4runners...

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

Thanks, it's the 6.8. Does just fine. Coming across Kansas on I-70 in crazy wind, it was staying in 8th most of the time. Really like the motor, tons of low end torque. Love pushrod V8's. It's the 'Godzilla' 7.3 but with 6.8 liters of displacement due to a slightly shorter stroke. Also doesn't...

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

No, it's a Bison, not Total Composites. Bison's panels are made in Texas, TC's are made in China, and they use different extrusion methods.

Megatron - New turnkey expedition vehicle from Supertramp, Elevation Off Grid (EOG) and Liquid Spring

Yeah but think about the boating/yachting world. Unicats, Earthroamers etc, are cheap compared to many boats/yachts people buy.

    Rossmonster F550 ER type vehicle

For what it's worth, Rossmonster has been doing vans for a long time. They are just down the street from us. I even built a climbing gym back in 2018, and they did all the wood working in our gym. Ross, the founder, is a brilliant wood worker. It's great to see their business pivoting to the...

Bison Overland Flatbed Camper Build…Das Gnomenhaus!

So am I, I pick up my slide in from Drew in about 2 weeks. He is a great, down to earth dude that is passionate about his product. I was looking at some other composite options and glad I went with Bison. Will see how much I like it once I pick it up.
