Small sas'd SUV...please think outside the box....off-road swivel hitch trailer hauling a arctic cat trv 700, with. The trailer light enough and nimble enough that the atv can yank said trailer all over after SUV has setup base camp. That's my dream setup, with my explorer. I want to go to Utah...

I need to update my pics, and prolly sig, but I really want to sas our 98 5.0 awd explorer.. I have the 4406, and front driveshaft, now just need the rear, and u joint conversion, and get after it! Already have swing out tire carrier, and built bumpers, dual exhaust, custom 3rd seat..etc

Awesome! I was browsing CL and found a rolling frAme from a 79 f150 with rebuilt axles...I am seriously contemplating going that route with some deep flares, or custom flares

good to know...I have added a third seat, and it worked perfect! Im currently looking at a couple 4406's and im torn between that and a guy over on explorer forums selling a 4406 with 5spd on his sport hes parting out. If we have a good winter with snow the extra money will be used to do a sas...

Awesome!! diggn the colorado's pre-runner fenders n boxsides, straight axled goodness, and even the stock TB doin its thing! Im trying to have a fab guy thats doin jeep and explorer bumpers mimmick what you had done on the ends of the bumper, and how they line up with, and follow the bodylines...

Epic build!!..I am loving the rear bumper, and basically all the other ideas I had for our explorer will now be tweaked a tad. THANK YOU for sharing and documenting everything along the way!

So you never did the sas? Im currently searching for parts for our 98 explorer 5.0 awd to convert it to 4x4, and also adding a third row seat.

Hope your still around?? I see your in Wi as well. Im still searching for a crewcab late 70's era dodge. and possibly others..I usually only find club cabs.

FWIW...I tried canned tunes (factory SCT Tuner) and didnt get the mileage I expected with our old 7.3 Excursion 4x4...but when I decided to run a DPTuner flip chip, we gained almost 3mpg with me driving...solid 3mpg+ with wife driving. Only mods were open element air filter with a hole cut next...

Beautiful trail pics!!! I grew up in Hayden, and Craig,CO, and also Casper/Alcova,WY so I can relate to the terrain....lol..I havent been back tho since I was a kid back in 83-85, so I have been hinting to the wife that a trip is in order....muscle car road trip, or wagon trip..lol.

I can agree with the lack of OD...lol..my wagon hates me on the highways at 70mph and 15-16 mpg...lol...I get around 20 in town though. although some of the 3/4 burbs came with 4l80

I will add my .02 we had the very unfortunate experience of being forced into filing bankruptcy 3 yrs ago ( a good story in itself really) while owning a 7.3 4x4 Excursion, and uplander van... after that was over, we had to scramble and find a couple vehicles fast as we lost both. A comment my...
