Beautiful trail pics!!! I grew up in Hayden, and Craig,CO, and also Casper/Alcova,WY so I can relate to the terrain....lol..I havent been back tho since I was a kid back in 83-85, so I have been hinting to the wife that a trip is in order....muscle car road trip, or wagon trip..lol.

Ah, good ole Grizzly Lake. That first part can be interesting when you come out of the creek with wet tires then have to crawl up the wall. I don’t care much for sheer drop off so the long steep section with the huge drop off scares the hell out of me. There are rumors a Suburban went off the side about 10-15 years ago where some people got killed. I could see how it could happen!

The camping and view at the top is priceless though! Member ColoradoBill and I did this trail alone several years ago (no other trucks), no winch, no lockers and in a down pouring rain. The bed tent was no match for the rain then to make it worse we woke up to snow the next morning. The only good piece of off-road equipment on the truck at the time was a decent set of Super Swampers and a new crate 454HO on its maiden voyage. The truck badly wanted to hop off the side of that cliff wall with open diffs doing nothing but spinning and jumping around then the stupid carburetor wouldn’t run worth a hoot at that elevation and angle so it kept dying every time you step on the clutch or let off the throttle. As if it couldn’t get worse the tailgate popped open and all of our crap fell out and almost over the edge of the cliff (in the rain) including Bill’s wheelchair. Not sure if they have widened up the narrow steep cliff wall section since the fall of 2003 or not. I tell ya, my sphincter was pinching holes in the seat the entire way up until you get into that rock garden section where I got out and smoked an entire pack of cigarettes while I changed my underwear. It was ugly there for a while! I remember Bill and I having the "I love you Man" conversation because we weren't sure if we were going to live to tell this story or not there for a while. Won’t do that trail again alone without another truck along for the trip especially in the pouring rain! I am sure it would be much easier now with lockers but that still doesn't change the fact I hate scaling cliff edges.

A view to almost die for this day

Thanks for the pic Larry. Your description of your ride up there made me feel like I was there. Sounds like a killer experience...:ylsmoke:

the gate keeper tore up my driveshaft and the long boulder uphill one way section with the steep drop was defenatly a pucker factor:Wow1:. i was open on 33's and it did not get traction for anything. last year people said the trail was the worst they ever saw.

its pretty at the top

Smitty Built GEARS Seat covers designed for jeeps but can work on any Bucket, they have a rear bench one too. Paid about $80 a piece on Evil-Bay
