E-350 Cutaway with Total Composites Box

Got out for around 30 nights. Pretty good since it was mid to late summer by the time the camper was ready to go. Very happy with everything. Very happy that we went with lots of windows. I see some units that only have a couple small windows: not for me! . Over winter I will pull out the...

1200 pounds is the camper box with door, fan, and windows. I didn't weigh the base truck, but based on the generic curb weight, the 4wd conversion (transfer case, front axle), bigger wheels/tires, front winch and bumper adds about 1000 lbs. The subframe and all the storage boxes, including...

Will have it on the road this summer. Way too many people at McLean Creek. We tend to go to more out of the way spots.

I don't know if the Economy tune affected the front GAWR. I expect the Economy tune will be good for my needs and it saved $600. If I want more power, I will go with a custom tune, so I decided to just skip the Ford Premium tune. I expect the camper will be insured and registered as a Motorhome.

No driver assist package, no electronic dash. Just a very basic build. Upgraded the seats, power windows and locks, basic cruise control, power mirrors, small factory 120 VAC inverter. CDN $.

Should be close to, but below, the 10,050 lb GVWR. I haven't explored the various features of SketchUp but I expect there are extensions available that would let you complete a Bill of Materials with weights, etc. I tend to be too lazy with my drafting to fill in all the attributes, etc for the...

I am using a simplified Lippert bed lift system which uses a single rotary shaft to wrap up four webbing straps (seat belt material) and lift the bed. This keeps all 4 sides in sync at all times. I actually sourced it out of the UK as the Project 2000 Smart Bed System. I considered actuators...

Yes, without the cabinetry, the seats can recline further, but this position works for me. With a shorter cabinet or moving everything back and leaving a space, the seats could recline more. Some U-Hauls have the box right up against the cab limiting how much the seats recline (very little)...

Elevating bed in place. Still needs to be leveled, but it is sitting close to where it belongs. The underside of the bed has LED strip lights, with a dimmer, to light up the dining area. There is also a mesh panel on the underside. When the bed is in the lower, sleeping and traveling...

An angled rear end is meant to improve the departure angle, although I think that it has also become a bit of an 'overlanding' fashion thing. It is cool to say that your camper has a 'departure angle' built into it. Well, all vehicles have a departure angle and the rear of the camper can be...

The camper body is fixed to the van cab, no accordion rubber seal. A bulb-style weather-stripping was clipped on, all around the lip of the cab. The camper body was installed up against the cab, compressing the weather-stripping. The exterior gap between the camper body and the cab was...

Height to the top of the camper roof is 9'11". I will be adding a brush guard that will add another 6". The roof fan (closed) extends 5" beyond the roof, so the brush guard will be the highest point.
