Hello,
Regretfully I am not in shape so I decided to skip yearly climbing trip.. next year it is.. I just _have_to_ put enough effort in it.
Do people have experience on buying plots of land in favourite places/countries to have a place to Park & live while there? Spain would be on top of my...
Hello Guys and thanks for all the info!!
Ah, that is good news Riku, thanks!
Getting a Driving licence within US requires that you have already stayed in for 3 months so I guess 6+ months is required. That route is checked now and seems fairly hard crossing..
3 point kinetic attachment seems...
I do not have a truck. I do not have a licence to drive a truck in any country. only below 3500kg / ~7000lbs
I am considering my options on which country to get my licence in. I do believe I have an option to do it in Finland, other EU country or in USA.
I need the licence to drive it before I...
Thanks Ianc,
I was actually thinking about getting a US driving licence for heavy vehicle "class C" and then using that licence within EU while driving 8000kg+ vehicle..
The licence situation here in finland is bit mixed (have changed and will (?) change more) up so as twisted as it sounds...
USA Driving licence question..
What kind of a licence is needed in USA if one wishes to drive a heavy vehicle (=fire truck)? For private/personal use.. not commercial
Camper, 4 wheels, vehicle weight 9000kg or ~17500 lbs. What is the term/name for the licence that enables one to drive such...
Oi Mates!
Updates:
I have fridge/freezer now in the boot of my station wagon. 2*90 Ah DC battery (connected with 70mm2 cable). Generator (700w; not pure sin wave). 12v-24A && 24v-12A outlet charger.
I opted to buy batteries from local store. They gave me nice service and shipping would have...
Battery for cabin installation
Hello:
Status update. I now have fridge and charger (100% certain that fridge will work with both temp and proper campers, Charger is 12v so not so certain that I can get it to work with mogs)
Now looking at batteries and installation.
I understand that for...
generating Amps to charge leisure battery
What I intended to do
Generator <> battery <> fridge
Assuming that the fridge consumes 35Ah day
Generator generates 5A at 12V DC
Which would give 7 hrs of running generator per day. (at least.. to best of my understanding, if battery is almost...
Fridge is national luna fridge/freezer
Actual stated power consuption is 35Ah/day *blush* I rounded it up quite a bit for extra saftymargin for battery. (and I estimated that less efficient model would be ~50Ah/day - info on its powerdrain was not as clearly stated) ... apologies for poor...
aluminium or stainless steel fridge?
I am about to order a fridge. (usable for both Dacia and proper camper projects)
I am sitting on fence regarding surface material. Options are:
ALUMINIUM and STAINELSS STEAL
28.5kg versus 33.2kg - so steal is ~5kg more (~17% more)
At the moment I think I...
Regarding 'proper camper' project.. I think the minimum total heigh would be just under 3,5m for popup top camper with 2m interior clearance. I am certain that more height would add up more trouble.. do you people have experiences and what would you recommend? More travel height would mean more...
Thank you people for advice and pointers!
Ianc: Efoy was new solution for me. Very interesting device yet seems too tricky for practical life..
My reasons / short analysis below:
efoy is not up to the task of sole generator of vehicle (small power output; uses separate fuel- fuel storage)...
Greetings,
I have taken a closer look at electrical needs for the 'proper camper'. I have a sleep apnea and I use device while I sleep to gain better life quality. Tricky part is that this device uses a lot of power (it uses brute force to moisturize water). Specific information is not...
Small steps on both fronts:
"Dacia" will get a portable fridge/freezer. Plan is to re-use this in "proper camper".
http://www.nationalluna.com/weekender50.htm is my current front runner. with £ 950.
+ very good electricity options.
+ batery guard etc as standard.
? I do not know how easy it is...
Hello everyone,
small update.
I have quite serious issues with my back that have taken priority. :(
I have been:
1) working on different ways make the living "box" work. (I am working with assumption that (outside) measurements of 200cm(W) * 400cm(L) * 210cm(H) would not bee too far off the...
Photos would be great if you would take the effort Iain! No rush, I (hopefully) will be traveling a bit in europe during next 2 months.
With kind regards,
Janne
Hello Iain!
I guess you are referring to "Unimog Hippo" post. Yes, wonderful post, thank you for the detailed info. It quite well underlines the fact that _things add up_ as you pointed out.
Thank you for pointing out the flexing and mounting!! that is definitely something that has to be...
Hello charlie!
As said .. limited experience on the subject..
I imagine the value "heat conductivity: 0,037 W/mK" is the base value (1000mm = 1m)
To my limited understanding:
0,037 W/mK / 0,055m (thickness) >> 0.67 w/sq m-deg K
which means that foam would be a lot better with 0.44 w/sq m-deg...
Thank you for the link. good info ther!
my project:
1) Frame of the box. welding it myself is not an option. (My sister has a farm but firework is not allowed within facility -- no facility as we speak). Only option I can see is to order one made to my specifications. This would mean better...
Question about insulation
I am building a camper housing unit (early planning stage). I am bit of a newbie.
What kind of a insulation do I need? Or what kind of insulation have you used in similar conditions?
My first guess would be 50mm (2 inch) thick...
