California isn't to far for a lift. Depending on how high you want to go and your skill level you can install it your self. I ordered mine from PRG in California since they are one of the few manufacturers that build components for our trucks.
Also do the rear breather mod. Brings the breather for the rear axle high enough that you don't get stuff stuck in the breather. it's pretty cheap to do .
Had my ticket since i was 12 Running Yaesu FT-7800 in the truck. Eventually want to put either an IC-706MIIG or and IC-7000 with the AT100 in there.

Look up Load Shedding my father uses one in his truck for his amateur radio equipment when he leave's his truck sitting for a while. These devices allow the voltage to drop to a certain level and then shut's off the output.
