Bonzai trip through Southern UT and CO

I too have a '17 200 and wussed out and got some Michellin LTX MS2s instead of some beefier tires like KO2s. Looks like your stockers are doing well on this trip and I'm interested to see how they worked out.

2012 Suburban Z71 with some small mods

Anything south of a line from Del Rio to San Antonio to Port Lavaca? I wouldn’t argue too hard about anything south of I-10 though. I’ve had a hard time breaking out the coastal plain from “South Texas” though.

    200 Series Buying Guide

Agree with the radiator and starter, also check for cam tower leaks as well in the early models. 2013+ gets you some additional benefits/slight refresh that I think will carry you a little further.

    Texas overlanding anyone?

Did Big Bend in February... Valentine's weekend I believe. Camped in Chisos Basin and it was 20s at night and 70s in the day. Started the hike in shorts and a Patagonia Nano Puff and ended in a long sleeve performance t-shirt. The hike also started with a 2000' elevation increase, so that...

I don't see much 200 series here, any particular reason?

Agreed. There's a ton in Houston. I'm sure NoVa, areas of Cali, Dallas, Atlanta are also the same. But I'd bet there were years where there probably wasn't a single one sold from a dealer in North Dakota... maybe Wyoming too?

I don't see much 200 series here, any particular reason?

The US 200 production numbers are very low. Since the 200 debuted in '08, there has not been a year with more than 3,801 units sold. Several years less than 3k, some even less than 2k. When you factor in the majority that will never see more than pavement, I'm actually surprised how many...

Rock sliders and side steps. thoughts?

I have right now a set of Ranch Hand side steps and they barely made 2 years without rusting. I believe they are built under license or something from one of the cheapo-nerf bar places. To replace I'm looking at RCI Metalworks. Colorado company and they have some - but I didn't see what year...

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

Also, I've heard lots of complaints about Icon being noisy, especially if you get their UCAs too. If I were to make any real big moves with the suspension of the truck I'd probably call National Spring and get custom leafs that would reduce/eliminate the poor back ride and wheel hop.

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

I have ICONs in the back and I felt they were drastic overkill for what I was trying to accomplish and really didn't see much of a benefit for what I paid. I think FOX is probably also overkill, but not to the same degree or cost as Icon. I would not hesitate to put FOX stuff on my truck Look...

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

Those plugs look pretty decent for an ecoboost. If you have any rough idle, misfires, or especially if you decide to run a tune, gap them down to .028. Looks like you're doing all the good things for that motor!

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

I haven't read about too many, if any, bypass kits being used. While in normal engines synthetic, especially of the Amsoil caliber, should go that far. But there is just so much fuel dilution in the ecoboost/DI motors, I wouldn't trust it. The oil analysis is a good tool to see where you...

    NEW RIG: 2012 F-150 FX4

Absolutely switch to synthetic oil. There are, as I'm sure you've read on the f-150 forums, issues with the timing chains that are a result of the breaking down of engine oil that also lubes the chain. The synthetic oil won't break down as easily. Also, I know "nowadays" it's fine to go 5k...

    Overland F-150, Tacoma or?

I also am pro F-150 but then again I bought one for my needs. I got a 2013 4x4 Ecoboost with the King Ranch package. Why? For a lot of the previously mentioned reasons but really it came down to for us: huge space in the super crew, good value, comfort, quiet ride, ability to occasionally tow...

    2013 Ford Raptor SuperCrew build

Big50 - How did you go about welding the Outlaw Spindle Gussets? Did you tackle that yourself or have a shop weld and then you installed? Overall worthwhile? Thanks!

    VelociRaptor SUV

Raptor from the front, Expedition from the side, Excursion from the back? And man, what I could do to a 2013 Cummins with $149,500.

    01-06 Chevy Z71

I believe they do not - someone else can double check me on it. I do know that the skids on the nbs trucks were plastic/cheap metal so I'd go with aftermarket anyways. Hope that helps.
