I am planning a trip to the sandy beaches of Padre Island National seashore. With 19.5 duals. What would be a safe pressure to run the tires. I have tried a search. :airing down 19.5. But nothing related comes up.

    What options in the U.S.?

What options are there in the U.S. for a 4 x 4 cab and chassis? And what is the correct term for this body configuration. Sitting forward over the engine?

    F 450 flatbed camper build

Plain old truck. No DOT. Not all insurances will cover it. You might want to check with your insurance company or plan on changing. If I had to do again. I would go with 350 and rearch the springs. That would allow me to use tires that I can deflate on sand and snow. Not have to deal...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

1911/350: The Dodge is a 4500. 4;10 axles. Limited slip. Diesel, 4 x 4 Crew cab. Cab and Chassis. 200 inch WB. On the Ford I had 3 inch lift in the front with a donut. Plus 3 inch lift in the rear consisting of re-ached leafs and one extra leaf. Supposed to be 20K payload similar to the...

That view makes it all worth while.. Some times you just have to stop working and use the truck. Even if it not perfect. Your looks perfect it that setting.

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

5/16 to 1/2. Make sure to shake out any metal or dirt from the tube before you weld it. I tried 1/4 but the smallest slivers on metal clogged them up.

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

A relatively tight welded tube is a solar still. The air that enters will break down and form water. Add in the relative humidity and changing temperatures and sweating evolves. Per scientist way smarter then my. If you close off a container. Not totally airtight as a normal welder would...

Please drill weep holes in your boxes. I check one of my lower boxes today. Water to the bottom of the hinges. I had all ready drilled holes in the top boxes. Just forgot the lower. High humidity and changing temps cause a lot of condensation inside the boxes.

That looks good. So much for being able to use larger tires.

What did you use as the gauge for how high to go with the boxes? Where do the frames attach? It looks like you could have raised the boxes higher. But then the muffler sits lower then anything else on the truck. I hate that on mine.

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

thethepete. You said all that I was trying to say. "Channel is stronger, but only on one plane." I am in no way trying to disrespect your family business. We both have the same business philosophy. Build the best product that you can. I am sorry for any disrespect you may have gotten from...

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

thethepete: I am sorry but I cam not agree with most of the statements that you have made. Channel is stronger pound for pound then tubing is in the right structural application. 1 x 1 x .100 has no structural strength to be used in a crosser application. Anyone can take a 100 wall tubing...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

There seems to be a lot of interest in Trucks with flatbeds and campers. So far everything on my build seems to be working great. We have had some really cold weather for Louisiana. It appears that the electric heat wrap is keeping the basement warm enough to not freeze my tanks. I did not...

Tool Boxes and Flatbed Mounting Thoughts

All of the pictures of my truck will show you that it looks like. All of my boxes stick out past the bed. I extended my swing out brackets to allow loading without a problem. One of my boxes even stick out a hair more to allow me to put my spare tire inside of it. It is 34 inches from the...

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

Could you explain exactly how to remove this coating from extruded polystyrene? I am very familiar with the Styrofoam Brand from Dow Chemical and I have never seen a coating on it. The Styrofoam Brand has the blue color completely through it because that is Dow's marketing color for this...

    Trailer Frame Tube vs C-Chanel

Please do not drill or cut holes in the frame. But Paint, oil will not keep water buildup out.. Then it freezes and burst the tubing. If you paint it, leave some 1/2" weep hole. I made a pipe rack out of 2 x 2 x1/4" It got water in it and bust the side of the tube out. 1/4"!!!!!!. I would...

Oh boy. -NOW a build thread

I assume that you will attach the frame to the base of the camper frame? To give some support to the floor holding up the tanks underneath. Fresh water, gray and black? This is for the time that the camper is off of the truck? Have you thought to remove the camper base all together and use...

What is the reason for the aluminum frame? I does not look like you had a clearance issue anywhere. Why not just set flat on a rubber mat?
