    Poor man's "Earth Roamer" Tacoma.

Thanks for all of the battery & propane fitting info! On the battery subject, I do watch my Scanguage voltage reading and it never dips into the 10's while running the microwave. The inverter has a voltage gauge as well, also not in the 10's. Could the battery be up sized/ upgraded to a larger...

TacoDoc, There are cradle brackets that bolt into the bed tracks. Then there are stout clamps that grab the clamps. I had to have them sent from Canada to the dealership in Colorado. $20 parts, $200 shipping.

12/22/12: Got the ARB 47L fridge/freezer today. It fit perfectly and is easy to access through the rear half door. Playing around with the settings and checking how effective it is. If its as good as they say it is, I'll be able to have whatever food I want with me.

12/17/12: More creativity going on this weekend. I made a steering wheel holder for my iPad. May attach a small tray to extend its usefulness. Maybe $6 invested.. Got a bucket of Damp Rid as well to see how it will do. It's sitting by my head. NO condensation this morning at all. Will...

12/14/12: Yesterday was a long day at 4WP getting new tires, rims & SuperSprings. It was definitely worth the wait. I drove the 20 miles gingerly on the bumpstops. What was finally done is the following: 265/75/16 Procomp A/T tires, Mickey Thompson black Classic Lock beadlock style rims, SSA 19...

12/13/12: Pretty productive day. I wired in a 150 amp breaker for the inverter to protect the cables. I wired in a 12v drop light in the camper to get away from the cold LED lights, plus not having to deal with batteries. The warm glow of an incandescent bulb is more comfortable. Bought the Mr...

12/11/12 Will buying some kind of dessicant on Friday, along with the bigger heater, hose and 20lb tank. I'm assuming I DON'T use plumbers tape on the connections for leak proof connections? Going to triple check every connection and shut off the tank when the heater is not in use. It wouldn't...

    Poor man's "Earth Roamer" Tacoma.

12/10/12 Decided I'm going to buy the regular Mr Buddy heater, a hose, 20lb tank and a propane detector on Friday. The Little Buddy heater I have doesn't seem to put out enough heat, as well as going through a lot of 1lb bottles. I'm reading thoroughly all of the safety aspects of going that...

Ok, here come a bunch of updates: 12/7/12 Installed a 1000W inverter under the hood. It's stored in the drawstring bag when not in use. I'm purchasing the part to install a circuit breaker to protect the cables, the unit has it's own internal protection. From what I have been reading, 100 amps...

This stuff makes me miss my old CJ7. Is there an aftermarket solution to make this manual and simpler?

Considering I'm paying off my child support in 3.5 months, get a large truck allowance and live in the back, my budget is pretty generous.. lol. I'll check it out, thanks.

Thanks! No sir, no ball joint issues at all. I put in a 1.5" spacer lift to clear the bigger tires. The only rubbing I get is when I hit a good size bump at speed, the tire would rub a ridge in the fender well. I think 70's instead of 75's would fix that.

Just bought this '08 with 59xxx miles in Boulder this week. Base model with 4wd, 4.0l V6, 5spd auto, power widows/locks/cruise ect. I wanted the cheap rims because the first upgrade will be new ones. I want replacement bumpers f/r and will get them in about 2 weeks. Any suggestions? My...

I'm starting a new thread because I'm changing trucks now and the title of the original thread is no longer relevant. I had installed a Durashell 165 slide in utility body into my 2004 2wd XtraCab Tacoma. I'm keeping the truck, but moving the shell to a 2008 Access Cab 4x4 Tacoma. You can see my...

Another update. Since my last post I have done a few more things. I got the Mr Buddy round propane heater head and did some organizing. Yesterday was very productive. I got down to Houston to visit my daughter and addressed some maintenance items. The battery was replaced as the current one was...

I just had a 8" clear hatch installed in the forward bulkhead as a pass through to the sliding rear truck window. This will enhance cross ventilation, a little more natural light & allow me to duct heat/air from the dash as well as running a 12v extension cord to the back. I could also put a fan...

Switawi, Thanks for your kind words. Here are some better pics of the bumpers including the tailgate I had Brian build to replace the stolen stock one. It's in storage now as it's not needed at this time. It squatted about an inch to 1.5 inches with the shell loaded. Here's the rear bumper off...
