nuclear plants require a large amount of cooling water, often from the ocean, seas, lakes or rivers. Country borders are often oceans, seas, lakes and rivers.
i went through this decision process with my 2WD E250, as we spend winters ice climbing and BC skiing in the northeast. Ultimately i decided on a set of dedicated snow tires/wheels. Im sure the 3 peak rated ATs would be good enough. but i trust the dedicated snow tire much more when it comes...
now that winter is prettymuch over, i changed out to the summer wheels with new tires. 265/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler ultraterrains. a little bit of rubbing up front on some plastic trim, that i trimmed back. the wheels finally fit the buswhacker flares that have been on there for years. Now...
Ive used the first gen powerhouse in my van for the past few years. I dont power a fridge with it, but its been reliable and consistent. My biggest gripe with it is the lack of 12V input for charging, but it looks like that has been solved with this version.
i have a 2WD E250 EB and use it consistently through the winter months in upstate NY/VT a second set of dedicated snow tires (not snow rated ATs) to me is a must. Being able to go is nice. but being able to stop and turn is way more important.
94 E250 extended body with a high top. Low miles. seems like it needs a small amount of work.

the interior is pretty gross, but 5k for a low mile van with a lot of space seems pretty decent.
I know my opinion is worth about as much as everyone elses here: nothing. but I for one, am really excited about this new defender. In about 2 years we will be ready for a new car, which will also be a DD. A stripped out D90 is currently high on my list.....much will come down to how much it...
After i upgraded my camper from a grand caravan to a full size, i took out the bed system that i designed for the van (1 piece) and saved it for a friend who had bought a grand caravan. Unfortunately his van bit the dust and he doesnt need it. I figured i would put it up for free to see if...
thanks!
Ive got a build thread here with some more detailed pictures of the process.

sweet build. I had a 2011 grand caravan for a few years that i setup with a bed that still allowed for the middle row to be deployed (with the bed not in use) we did many many trips in that van, the storage space was cavernous. Now we have a bit more space and a garage so we moved to a full...
I have a 2WD E250 with the 5.4 V8 and open diff. I live in the northeast and plan on using the van throughout the winter for backcountry ski and ice climbing trips. I dont plan on doing any offroading, for the most part my challenges will be getting in and out of snowy parking lots and...
