    Awning/tent spikes source

I make my own spikes. I go to a local supplier and get 12" spikes. I then weld a washer about an inch down from the head of the spike. That allows you to seat the spike to the ground, yet still allows you to slip a claw hammer over the spike head to pull it out. Plus it gives a big flat area...

    Kodiak tent questions

I have the 10'x10' Flex-Bow Kodiak and absolutely love it. The more you use it, the quicker you can set it up. I can put mine up by myself in about 10 minutes with the awning from the time I pull it out of the bag. As for the footprints...I've noticed the same. I just take my shoes off and...

Dude, from what little you've posted thus far about your chuck box, I am impressed. I love the design. Are you going to sell plans? Or perhaps sell kits? You could make some $$ here. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it all put together.

RTT vs Ground Tent to outfit your Expedition Trailer

Few reasons for me to have a Kodiak (Springbar knock-off) over a dedicated RTT. 1. Investment cost versus actual use. You wouldn't have the same issue I do as you travel more miles on dirt than most do on pavement. 2. Wife crawling out of bed in the middle of the night to tinkle. 3. My trailer...

    XJ roof racks

Cheap rack I made. $35 in steel, a few hours, and it holds 300 pounds well enough. Low profile at 3" overall height. 3/4"x3/4"x.065 wall for the hoops and 1/2"x1/2"x.065 wall for the floor. I'm sure I'll get hate for not going gutter mount, but it serves it's purpose well enough. It'll...

    Offroad Teardrop - SawTooth XL

I can understand. Just a suggestion that may help bring in some money. I know when times are tight, you gotta make sacrifices. At any rate, good luck in getting back on your feet! :victory:

    Offroad Teardrop - SawTooth XL

You should learn to use AutoCAD (or something similar) in your spare time and then you can draw up plans and sell them. I'd imagine you could sell quite a few sets. Easiest way would be to print all the dwgs off as .pdf files and combine them. Once someone pays, you just send them the file.

    Another camping gear/utility/off-road trailer

flashing over plywood. I'd have never thought of that. Great way to save $. What did you use to glue the two together?

    Box Rocket Homemade trailer build.

Any idea roughly how far White Rocks is from the general area you camped the first night? I'd like to head out and visit that area, possibly this weekend. Chad

    Conqueror Nose Cone Storage

Propane Regulator ---> Control Valve ---> Propane Hose ---> Propane Orifice ---> Misc. pipe fittings from Standard Plumbing. As mentioned earlier, I ended up drilling a 1/16" dia. (as memory serves) hole to open the orifice up a bit for more flow. Misc. pipe fittings: (1) 1/2" threaded cross...

    Conqueror Nose Cone Storage

This is the only thing I could find. It shows the burner sitting on my backyard firepit, no wheel. The wheel is pretty simple though, you can figure it out. Either mark and drill a hole with a hole saw, or you can just get a grinder and cut a slot in one side. This is the first burner I...

    Conqueror Nose Cone Storage

I have a propane campfire I made out of a steel 15" wheel and some 1/2" pipe fittings. I got the idea from a place in West Valley that makes these, only slightly different. I drilled a hole in the side of the wheel, and built a "t" shape out of a cross, some nipples, a few caps, and a reducer...

    Converting a utility trailer?

Seems to me it'd be a bit bulky for most expedition type use (at least the type I enjoy) and a quite heavy as well. May not be much concern if you have a full size to tow it with though.

    Sleeping Bag Stuff Sacks

Hope this is in the right section.... What are you all using for a nice quality stuff sack for your sleeping bags. I'm trying to find a decent setup that is: a) waterproof b) dust tight c) has nylon straps for cinching it down d) comes in an array of sizes to suit our different sized bags So...
