POR-15 going on the entire underbody...seems to be really good stuff. Starting to paint the door frames with Gillespie 686 CARC from Rapco Parts. Primed with Gillespie zinc phosphate primer. Blacking out the wheels (and any chrome) with Gillespie black semi-gloss. Primed with an epoxy primer...

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm likely going to go with a diamond axle with the FROR float conversion--these two companies are run by the same guy, Brian Ellinger. He seems to be the authority on this full float conversion. Apparently he has a kit using a 2003+ 4runner disk/drum brake...

It's a good option but I haven't been able to find a transfer case ebrake for a 2004 V6 Taco...the all-pro is pre '95 and 4 cyl only. I'm not sure if there's one out there somewhere or not...

I've been talking with the guys at Ruff Stuff and Front Range Off Road about making a custom axle housing with thick wall (3/8") tubing that bolts into my existing 3rd member and then an adapter plate to tie into a spindle and the hub. I'm still not totally clear on which truck the spindle and...

Update Hi everyone! Been a long time, but thought that I’d give some updates on the Supercamper. Everything had been working great for years with many trips under its belt, but Baja has finally caught up to me. Driving hard & weighed down with supplies, my rear axle bearing went out on me in...

    My Baja Trailer build....

Nida Core: We used 1-1/4" sheet with 18 oz fiberglass each side. You could stand on a 4x8 sheet between two saw horses with only a minimal amount of bending. We have a 6x6 bed supported around the perimeter that two of us can sleep in no problem. If you were to go up to 1-1/2" your strength...

    My Hilux from Australia

Has anyone looked into importing or driving back a Hilux from Central America? They are all over down there and the steering wheel is on the LHS. Just wondering what restrictions and/or taxes there are. The drive home through Mexico sounds more fun to me than swapping a diesel into a Tacoma.

The frame just got straightened. Seems like a pretty good job. It's aligned and doesn't pull. I went and watered down the alley behind our apartment and drove thru it and it only left two tire tracks which is a good thing. Only thing that is a little out of whack is the RH leaf shackle is...

Yeah good point on the 265/75s. half inch is a fairly large percentage of ground clearance and probably negligible for CG. But the CG thing was why I was thinking smaller. (and they might keep me out of the burger king drive thru, which is probably a good thing). maybe i will step it up...

Ok. Got a new fuel tank. The gauge was about 1/16th inch above empty and I filled it up--took 15 gallons. Does this seem about right for the 18.5 tank? I know its gonna be more than the 15.8 gallon tank and I think there are only two sizes so I think I'm set. Secondly, I've added two cross...

    Hose fitting info needed

I'm using 3/8" ID PVC beverage tubing. I think 3/32" wall with a max pressure rating of 36 psi. My pump's switch is set at 30 psi I believe. Check out page 100 of the online Mcmaster-Carr catalog. Ryan

This is what I did. Plastic ball valve. Bought several pipe thd plugs as shown and drilled out different hole patterns to get a nozzle I like. one shoots really far, others are more gentle. Got everything from Mcmaster-Carr. Ryan

Hey guys, can anyone help me out with this? We got the truck back from the shop. Drives straight, body work looks good, everything almost back to normal. The only problem is the fuel tank which was replaced. When I went to fill it up (on empty with the light on) it only took 14 gallons (the...

I finally went through the shoebox of receipts that we had kept to add up the total cost of building the camper. The final tally: $13,300. This includes everything, except major tools bought for the project. It does however include things like sand paper, duct tape, drill bits, rubber...

    custom camper advice

You can buy the nida-core pre laminated as sheets. So all you have to do is make your cuts with a skil saw, sand down all edges to prep for the resin, and then glass your seams. Then you have to sand your seams down to blend. Its easy if you know fiberglass, but if you don't you might want to...

I'm not sure where the guy is getting the rear end. Its not through the dealer as he claims that the dealer will only sell individual parts and it would have to be assembled afterwards. Does anyone know if this is correct? I should probably call the dealer myself to keep him honest.
