Does anyone know of a write up for changing the oil in the supercharger? I am assuming there is no way to change it without removing the supercharger from the engine?

I changed the oil in my 1st gen (gray) supercharger on the 4runner awhile back and it can be done but is a pain. Buy two bottles of supercharger oil from your local Chevy/GM dealer (way cheaper than Toyota) get a cheap pump from say HarborFrieght and pump out what ever you can, make sure and measure what you take out and put that back in. I noticed on mine that it is basically like a differential in there with nothing but 3 gears spining so in my opinion if you put a little more than recomended it should be fine. If you can only get some out, add the new drive it a bit and then repeat to get some of the old out again.

Thats what i do with mine (black S/C), i use a brake bleeding / vacuum pump to take out the old oil and like OldSven said GM s/c oil (#12345982) which is about $8.

Seems like there is conflicting info on the internet; go figure.:coffeedrink:
I've read the 1st generation grey one needs to be removed from the motor due to the drain plug location. The 2nd generation black one doesn't.
Read someones thread, can't remember what site where they used a ear syringe to create a vacuum and remove the oil. Might not get all of it out, but probably most. Can't hurt, to try.

Yeah the drain plug is upside down on mine (they used the same nose from I think a pontiac where it sat right side up, they flipped it and it worked on the toyotas but saved money from not having to design a new nose with the plug right side up). With mine the gears were fine and nothing was leaking so I didn't want to screw anything up, its just the part of fishing a small enough tube up the drain hole and down into the bottom of the nose to get to the oil.
