03 E350 Quigley, or...

I've been daydreaming / planning on going to a full size van for adventure/travel/camping duties for about three years now and am getting to the point where it kinda makes sense to pull the trigger.

Currently have an '03 Cummins powered Dodge 2500, and would be selling/trading it on whatever van I end up with.

I found an '03 E350 Quigly locally. Decent shape, 93k miles, V10, passenger model. I stopped in and took a look today, it's in decent shape, interior is nice, and undercarriage is in good shape, but there is a little rust on the body that would need to be repaired.

Does $7,500 sound reasonable for this?

I'd like to have 4x4 from the get-go rather than buy a 2wd and convert it later as funds are available because I want my wife to be comfortable (read: willing to) drive it in the winter.

What do you guys think?

Is the Quigley conversion as bad as gets made out to be on ExPo, or is it a good base to be improved with Ujoint bling when I outgrow it's capabilities?

Thanks for the feedback.

Quigley is alright, not great. I have one and the ride is a little harsh or unsettled. Never been in a U-Joint rig but I bet its a lot better. Having said that, nothing wrong with the quigley.

if you plan to upgrade the Q suspension in the future then you'll loose some $ from the initial van price for being 4wd. Sounds like a good deal though.

Quigleys aren't all bad... I'm happy with mine. It has limited travel on the front axle so it hits the bumpstops often but it can be fixed by swapping in some moog cc880s front coils. They gain a little lift and they're progressive rate so it gets stiffer as its compressed. And they're cheap and easy to swap in.

That's really my only gripe about my 02 Quigley.

Cool, thanks for the input, guys. Sounds like a pretty good deal, but in talking with the wife about it we decided we'd rather start with a cargo van than a wagon as our perception is that adding a couple of smaller windows for the second row passengers (kids) would be easier than covering up/filling in all of the windows that the passenger vans come with.

Agile offroad RIP Fox and progressive springs will solve most of Quigley problems. It's like night and day.

I just put same springs in my van I got a two inch lift and it rides superb now.

I put Bilstein 5100s all around on my E350 PSD with the quig and it completely transformed the vehicle. Also these rigs are SUPER sensitive to tire pressure.. Im talking a few pounds difference and it really is not happy!
