I'd been lurking/looking at newer trucks for awhile. My old truck, 97 F150 xcab 2wd, worked for what it was good for, a truck. But with just a xcab and 2wd it wasn't functional for hunting trips, winter driving, having more then 1-2 people with, car seats, camping trips, and etc. So after having the truck for 8 years, we finally bid good bye to it. I got the truck in 09 from my father in law, who was the original owner. It had served us good for those year.

I found a 03 F350 on line at a local ford dealer. I didn't go with the intent to buy it but we stopped by and saw it on sunday after church. Decided to look at it on Monday. After test driving it and decided to go for it. 1/9/17
The truck is a 2003 F350 crew cab short bed 4x4 6.0L Powerstroke, white, lariat package, with 205,000 miles. I was nervous with getting the 6.0L but after research and finding that it was a local construction company that exlucsivly runs fords. Also found that the truck was a supervisor truck. It had all the service records, and it was serviced on time. It has brand new 285/75R16 and a brand new F.I.C.M. Im falling in love with this truck. I love having the crew cab. It also has the husky floor liners in it.
Plans to do 1st:

4" Auxbeam LEDs in the grill (Installed 2/19/17, also Dupli Color Custom wrap-Black on inner and outer vent of grill)

Nice truck! I have had many ford work trucks due to that I will never buy anything over 2002.
However, the 6.0s get a bad wrap for good reason, but they can be good motors.
They like fresh oil, so change often. Fuel additves every tank, helps a lot. Fuel pressure is key do the blue spring upgrade or regulated return system.
Oil friction modifiers (like archoil) in the oil, a must for the winter starts.
Plug in the block heater for the winter (really helps)
Coolant filter( must), swap coolant(must) with cat elc, or international coolant or amsoil coolant. Low ELC colant only, the ford stuff has to much silica.

03 was the first year and as such had a few more things that could go awry. ICP sensor was prone to failure and moved from back of the engine to the right head for 2004. Get a Scangauge2 from Bulletproof Diesel to watch EOT, ECT, HPOP as key PIDs.

My 04 served me well, but had the common issues which happen to the 6L. I was fortunate that my warranty was in place and the dealer was friendly to mods and deletes. High pressure oil pumps were prone to failing in the 03 and 04 engines, so if you're digging in for oil cooler and studs, consider a new pump, since it'll be right there in the open. Turbo drain was upgraded in later versions, but not certain if it works with the 03 turbo.

Grill mod

Wife got me a set of Aux Beam lights for Christmas off Amazon. Little 6 LED, 4" lights, like $20. Id seen a set on a buddys truck and I like them. Was going to put in my old F150 but didn't so I installed them in the grill on my F350. I also sprayed my grill with the Dupli Color Custom wrap. Just the inner part of the grill and the side vents. It was faded and decided to see if I like it.

I like the way it turned out. Also the lights are really bright. No pic of the lights on tho

I've already noticed the throttle responds a lot better.

Noticeable difference on the throttle and can kinda hear the sound over the engine. Have been averaging between 12-15mpg. Mix of highway and city driving and idling. Ive been letting it idle for about 10 minutes if its cold and about 5 if the weather is nicer.
