03 Montero Sport Es AWD worthy?

I'm looking at starting an expo rig and I've found a pretty clean example but I know little about this platform. Is it a reliable off road worthy platform to start on? AWD badge kinda makes me leery. What are problem spots to look for? Is there a better platform to start with ? I'm looking spend about 5k on a rig. Thanks!!

$5k gets you into a Montero, which is really the main knock against the right Montero Sport, from what i understand.

The AWD Sport has normal 4WD mode as well. Very good solid rigs, but like posted above 5k will buy a really nice Montero. So unless you prefer the smaller more aerodynamic body or just like Sports, i'd go Montero
