:chef:Got my sliders on, debadged and had the front side windows tinted the same as the rear window. Gotta decide on next steps now...

Your truck looks great. Did you end up having to do a diff drop or use the carrier bearing spacer? How much lift did you end up with in the front?

Love the wheels. I have the same in gunmetal but I am really leaning towards painting them black. Just trying to figure out what type of black to paint them. Did you do anything with MAF calibration on the CAI?

I left the front coilovers as they came from the factory, so a 2.5" lift. I bought but didn't install the diff drop and CB spacer. No vibrations or other issues to date. I also didn't do any MAF calibration on the CAI, but my highway mileage went up to around 21mpg (from 18-19), so I'm pleased with that.

Looks great man!!! If you want to continue with the no shiny look. Find a used base model on a car lot somewhere and ask them if they want to trade the base model grill for your chrome one....Makes a huge difference..... For you and them...they get free chrome!

Sounds like a neat build you have planned, can't wait to see what all you do to this truck mate.

where did you get the sexy black trd wheels?
And what's the BS and bolt patern??? Will these fit on a 1st Gen 4Runner / Mini-truck???I really want some black wheels adn I'd like to "keep it in the family". Another advantage... Those wheels look ************!!!!!

Cheers

Those are the FJC Trails Team Edition Wheels, Matte Black,
16 x 7.5 inches. 6 Lug, and fit all FJ Cruisers and newer Tacoma's.

I have the FJC Special Edition TRD Wheels on my 06 Tacoma. They are the Gunmetal color. I believe they are
4.5 in. BS and they bolt perfectly to the six lug Tacoma. They are 16 x 7.5 in. Maybe I will be painting them
matte black!

I haven't seen any actual BS measurements, but I'd guess they're the same as an 05+ Tacoma/4th Gen 4Runner (~5" ?). But they're 0.5" wider, which means they'll stick out that much more.

4Rescue - If you're cheap like me, just get some old Toyota rims on craigslist for cheap, sand, prime and paint. Worked good for me. There are tons of the 15" Tacoma rims and 16" 4Runner rims on there. Not quite as sexy as the TRD's, but much cheaper.

I did that exact thing as I wanted to go chrome free and I really like the black and red coloring. Its actually pretty easy to find someone to swap out with you.

Before de-chroming. (sorry closes pic I have)

It really helps to clean up the look. I also took out the Toyota emblem and painted that with spray paint and a clear coat on top. Its quick and easy and have to repaint only once a year.

those are so damn good looking. I actualy think I might like them in Gunmetal/anthracite... I do love the black though too... I'm so indescisive.

Good call, I really do LOVE those trail teams wheels though eh. WHat I'm really after is some 16's because of course I want to get myself on some 255/85's so I can really be part of Team Expo ;) And how'd you know I was cheap!!! HAHAHAHA. Good call on the Craigs idea, I keep seeing Toyota rims all the time on there.

But, for the sake of argument, would those Trail teams rims fit on my 1st Gen 4Runner????

Cheers

I haven't seen them on a 1st Gen, but I have seen 16" Tacoma and 4th Gen 4Runner rims on the 1st Gen, and the TRD's fit on Tacoma's and 4Runners, soo...... they SHOULD fit. :)

I may be a little biased, but I really dig black trucks with black rims! Looks real good. I want to see it with the trailer out on a trail somewhere...

What kind of rims are you using? They look like the stock spare tire steel wheel from a 3rd gen 4Runner. Looks great - I may have to copy you:)

No they are 16in Mojave Black Teflon's. Very expensive, but I love the way they look. That said, I would not buy them again. I am currently using 255/85R16s and I really like this size tire. These rims are very wide while the tires are very thin and I am afraid to air down as I am sure I will lose a bead.

I still want black rims, but I need to find something less expensive and more suited for this tire size. I would like the black trds like the OP has, but too pricey right now. You can check my build in my sig if you need any info:)
