100 Series headlights not so good!

just bought new headlights for my 1998 100series and added 100w bulbs with a electronic relay. Made a 100% difference.

Welcome to ExPo. You'd best post up some pics of your LC. Especially under the hood (bonnet). Nobody this side of the pond is going to object to diesel porn! The "100 series registry" is a good spot...

Thanks for the help! I think I'm going to try the HIR bulbs... seems the simplest. If that's not good enough I might go down the HID Projector path... or just get a 200 Series:sombrero:

Carefull when you trim the tabs. The first time I did it I used a side cutters and a little too much broke off. Second time I used a cutoff wheel and had better results.

use the HIR bulbs. They are hard to beat for the price. Put in low beams too, they will not last as long but at the price its still very worthwhile. Cut with a hot razor blade and it will cut through the tabs like butter.

I ran the HIR's on my 80 series and the results were dramatic. Just picked up my 100 and plan to do the same "mod" soon.

Well, I spent a half hour talking with my local Hella rep on friday and I ended up getting a set of their 65w high beam 9005 bulbs and trimming the fins so the fit in the low beam housing. Same principle as the HIR I believe, but I couldn't find any of those locally. I also fabbed up a pre-runner type hoop/light bar and will mount up the free PIAA 520s I got last week. I'm going to run the power and ground from the factory fogs so they run the PIAAs and I can use the factory switch on the steering column stalk. Between those two simple mods, I hope to have a big improvement!

I would really encourage a projector conversion to run HIDS.

I actually hand build custom lights and would be happy to help.
