Not sure who made the bumper - was from a USFS Tahoe and had a Buckstop sticker - but nothing like it on their website. 1/2" by 1.5" bar for the most part. Roofrack upgraded to 4 bars (Yakima) with custom stainless supports - the wimpy OEM one (even with 3 OEM crossbars) flexed so much the roof paint got scratched by the Autohome mounting bolts with 2 full size adults and a roof top tent on it. Stock suspension (with nothing done to the torsion bars) on 33's with 1" spacers.

Currently upgrading from XM to XL torsion bars and new keys for levelling /2.5" lift (Z71 Suburban rear coils + 1.5" spacers) plus going to a 2" wheel spacer and Hellwig 7701/7702 sway bars / Bilstein 5100's. Future upgrades will include 16x9 Huchinson dual beadlocks with custom adapters (hence the need for the 2" spacers) model 0420 (Have 3, am looking for 2 more...) or if I can't locate a full set, recentered H1 dual beadlocks from Trailworth Fab.

Also like that bumper in the first pic - next project is a rear dual swingout (spare and fuel+9.9Hp outboard) bumper and a long/narrow storage box for an add-on Autohome veranda and camping stuff plus front roof rack/bin for a 3m Zodiac.

For that bumper, I know buckstop builds custom bumpers for firedeoartments that aren't on their site so I'm sure its just a request built bumper.

IIRC the XL were OEM on 4wd (Z71 etc) and are about 4500# (pair), the XM are the ONLY other 52" size available (unless you luck out and find some NOS or used Sway-a-way bars) and are about 1000# stiffer overall and were OEM on fleet spec Tahoes and peformance package 2wd versions. I downgraded for better offroading but getting used to the softer ride is weird - really dips when you brake. May end up going back again.

Do you mind sharing where you got the torsion bars from? I've looked around a little online and haven't been successful finding a source. (my truck has some miles on it, so I'd like to swap mine out). Thanks!!

is there a way to i.d. yhe difference between the 2 bars? or are you taking the junk yard word for it? is there a corresponding code in the glove box?

There tends to be stickers on the bars with the codes on them. At least when new. I think there is a sticker in the glovebox that tells you what you had from factory but since our models are a bit older unless you bought it new it would be a better bet to check under the rig.

Someone please tell me if I'm wrong on this.

Sorry I must be lucky. There was just enough sticker on mine to see what it was. But we don't salt our roads in Oregon... well atleast not in the Portland Metro. ;) good luck though.

Sorry - my stickers were still on (220k 145k in AZ the rest round Portland) so I don't know how you'd ID them. Maybe run the VIN by the dealer? Or the codes as suggested.

I got them via gmpartsgiant.com The paint on the new XL's is white (on the ends) if that helps

18 **048309 BAR FRT TORS,(CODE XL)(MAX TORQUE 4626) CK1,2,3 (6XL) 03-06 1 L $232.07
18 **048310 BAR FRT TORS,(CODE XL)(MAX TORQUE 4626) CK1,2,3 (7XL) 03-06 1 R $232.07
18 **048311 BAR FRT TORS,(CODE XM)(MAX TORQUE 5638) CK1,2,3 (6XM) 03-06 1 L $227.64
18 **048312 BAR FRT TORS,(CODE XM)(MAX TORQUE 5638) CK1,2,3 (7XM) 03-06 1 R $227.64

Doesn't list the full part numbers but I think those are in a sticky somewhere on this or the Z71 board http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/ - might be able to find them elewhere on line for less but not sure.

This is also a great reference http://gmfullsize.com
