12V Fridge / Freezer - Use to freeze and rotate freezer blocks?

Has anyone used 12V primarily as a freezer and also rotated freezer blocks into and from a standard cooler for drinks etc?

Google "polar tubes", just glue-capped 2" PVC, cut to the right length and filled 85% full with seawater.

Plan to work out clips to hang them from a cooler lid, top of the space. Or maybe a flat rectangle shape, that fits into the much larger super-insulated cooler for opening daily-use.

Rotate between the cooler and a freezer whenever generating excess solar power, or long trips off the Alt, "free energy" storage.

Will likely stay cold 6-8 days in a good cooler, freeze faster than jugs, no leaks, more space efficient. . .

Yes.

This is what we do when we are on extended trips into the bush. We give our other normal cooler a fresh freezer pack from the ARB each morning.

We also take out frozen food from the ARB and place it into the other cooler for it to thaw throughout the day/overnight for us to eat the next day... the cooler then benefits from the frozen food as a "freezer pack"

And if the cooler is super-insulated like Yeti, enough quantity and big enough sized polar tubes, don't even need to keep the freezer going all the time if you need to conserve battery energy, may get 3-4 days' cooling stored.

When it gets sunny again, or you're making a long trip, then fire up the freezer.

Exactly the same principle as eutectic holding plates refrigeration systems cost thousands on yachts.
