18" Wheels - recommendations? LR3

RE: 265/70-18 - Not without trimming. It can be done, but unless you're willing to break out the cutting tools I'd recommend going with 265/65-18s. That's my 'default' tire size recommendation for these rigs.

(as a side note, I have a set of 275/70-18 Cooper STT Pros arriving in about a week, but I'm not averse to a little cutting)

Do you have a thread to discuss the plan and results? I did a test fit of both 305/60x18 and 275/70x18 and found both to be seriously problematic in articulation and turning. Even if you were to cut more fender liner it wouldn't be enough, the actual outer fender edge will have to be "relieved" or else the tire will just grind into it up front and in the rear it will be right against the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. I'm excited to see what you end up doing !

So the sensors are in the car I swapped out with, 45min away. I don't quite think it's worth the drive and amount I would have to pay to get the 4 units removed from my old tires if my vehicle doesn't even have a TPM system.

I'll start a thread once I actually get the tires. They are supposed to arrive this week however I won't have a chance to pick them up until the following week as I'm leaving for work in a few minutes and won't be back home until Thursday night, then I leave Friday for a club trail maintenance weekend at South Cow Mountain OHV park. I'll probably pull the wheels off the truck when I get home Sunday and plan to take them with me when I head down to the bay area to get them changed out. I haven't set up my schedule for next week yet so I'm not sure if I'll have room in the van for 5 large wheels and tires. If so, then the next weekend I'l be able to work on making them fit. It's a little inconvenience to pick them up since I won about $300 in gift certificates from a tire shop in the south bay - about 100 miles from my house. I usually work in the bay area at least part of the week, so it's not that bad but it'll still be an hour drive from where I stay (on my boat) in the east bay when I'm down there. I could have asked them to send the tires to a closer store (it's America's Tire) but since the manager of that particular store provided the raffle donations to our club I wanted to be sure to buy though his store.

True, not much point unless you see yourself in a newer lr3 later. Regardless, they do represent a $400 value new, ~ $200 used.

Did you go check the fender liner as I described it? I can take a photo of mine today for comparison if you like.

Photo would be cool. I called my Buckhead dealer and he had positive confirmation of TPMS based on my VIN... Can see the outline of the light on my dashboard!

I'll go pick up the sensors and sell them, and trade my old tires for the $30.

If your lr3 has tpms, it's not a bad thing to get a warning if one is going low from a puncture. Just looked, they're easy to see, especially the rear ones, even the wire running to them.

OK! Talk about a waste of time... Sorry!

It turns out that the tire guy had no idea what he was talking about when he said my vehicle had TPMS on my wheels! IIreturned the tires from the swap and was going to go get the sensors removed on my old wheels. I checked them before I left the used car lot and found out they were rubber also! No tpms in the wheels! Ugh.

Least I made a 45$ swing on the tire sale as I didn't pay $15 to dispose of the old tires! I got the set of KO2s for $1,016 after taxes and a rebate.

Good grief. Well, those should wear such that you don't have to think about tires again for 50,000 miles or more.

I found them for about 986.84 without any installation fees...but as you said, build the relationship - I figured I'd go local. Everyone else I called near by scoffed at that price :D
