Great truck. I have always wanted a classic with a modern powertrain. What about a 6.8 v10? Or on the other end of the spectrum, the tried and true 4.9 online 6? That was a good reliable torquey motor with decent fuel economy.

Yup it was at the Pavilions, I was probably over by the rally-fighter or looking around at other vehicles:coffeedrink:.

I dont mind the mileage of the 460, I already have 30 cylinders to feed at home :) Plus it's free and sitting in my yard.
Still on the lookout for a zf5 and manual transmission truck computer.
If I do find a cheap early late 80's early90's 4x4 F350 I may go for it, gain an extra dana 60, diesel engine and tranny to boot.

I still need to find a seat and fabricate front shock mounts, expect to see that soon.
Here's a little video I took. Yes I stalled, 4th is too high of a gear to get out of the little mud puddle:snorkel:.
Going to another car show at a Harley dealership near work tomorrow, should be fun.

Ahh you have to love:drool: that backyard wheeling. Nice one :Wow1:Nick! I like the sound of that old V8 in your truck. I think you should keep it in there. Dont you just long for the days when Ford built a good 4by4 with straight axels and leaf springs? Ifs must be the anti-christ, lol. Cheers Chilli.:)

Yes, driving my dakota is a one handed relaxing experience compared to this leaf spring thing lol.

I wanted to get rid of the ugly gauge pod the previous owner had setup so I designed/made my own.

The DXF it came from, I threw in two switches for future mods.

I re-used 3 out of the 5 gauges the truck came with; Oil psi, water temp and fuel level. I still need to finish up the dash, the only working things are the turn signal lights, gen and low oil lol.
Anyways, I wired up the gauges all nice with a 12 pin molex plug.

After dropping $3k to restart the school semester I had some really good news! Discount tire called me and said the BFG commercial T/A's on the tire are part of a bad batch so they will replace them for free!
For a little cash thrown in they said they would have no problem if I step up to some 255/86/16 km2's
So new rubbers soon!

Nice:Wow1:work on that new gauge set-uo Nick. you must have a plazma cutter or something like that. Also, good to hear about you getting some new tires and a very reasonable cost. I cant wait to see the pics!:)

The steering wheel was developing a vibration and play, I tracked the issue down to a bad tie rod. The old drag link was rusted solid so I decided to make a new one. I tapped some DOM and slipped it into another piece of .188 wall.
I got new tie rods from autozone, turned out they were Moog problem solver TRE's Sweet!

there is a 2wd 59 f100 for sale here locally for $1k. so tempting to pick it up, slam it to the ground and stuff a 460 in it. very sweet looking ride nick!

Awesome! I love old trucks that arent trailer/show queens.

Those are awesome tires, I ran KM2's in that size for awhile but they were crap on ice and snowy roads so I sold them.
