I would leave the original paint being that it is so nice. I would think preservation as opposed to restoration. Get it mechanically perfect, stop the minimal rust there, and leave the look 100% intact.

I would totally do that but some of the rubber needs to be replaced. The rear window sliders in the top for example are shot. Floor boards need a clean up and fresh paint as does the top.

I did think about buffing out the paint, I do think it would come back to life with some work. Pretty cool it is 46yrs old and could probably be saved. My plan though is complete tear down, sand blast it all and fresh paint, probably go the stock color too. That way I can be sure the truck is saved and ready to go for another 40-50yrs!

Well, I ordered up a HUGE load of parts for this truck from Nissan last night. Believe it or not there is still a ton of parts that show up in the Nissan database for old Patrols. if you have the right part numbers that is. I myself have not tried to order up any parts from Nissan for an old Patrol in 10+yrs. I did get a lot of stuff back then that you would expect to be NLA. Any ways, time will tell what Nissan has, my guess is 25% or less of what I ordered.

Well, Nissan canceled my HUGE order a few weeks ago. Not a single part shipped to me out of nearly a $4k order. Kind of bugs me because I know they at least have some of the parts I tried to order, how do I know!? Because I just bought them from Amayama recently. So ****** Nissan, don't want my cash!?

Even though Nissan doesn't want to sell me old Patrol parts I know how to find them anyways. I honestly was curious what Nissan may have had more than anything, since I have not tried to buy parts from them in over 10yrs. So what have I been buying?

Got me an NOS back up light, pure gold and super rare.
P40 fuel pump
oil filters
w/p dizzy points
t-case seals and pinion seals, they are the same
Leaf springs, lifted and new, made by Alcan
NOS rear license plate light, I know a trick to find and buy this part in NOS form.
Dual circuit master cylinder, I am upgrading on this truck and also fitting the master vac from my 77 Ute.
33x10.5 KM'2, 70% tread
I know I have bought more parts too recently but been buying a lot of parts not just for my trucks so may be forgetting a few things.

Just waiting to hear back from a buddy in S. America and then I will buy;
all seals and bearings to rebuild axles, trans & t-case. I am also going to purchase an Excedy heavy duty clutch soon for the truck. After this, honestly all it will need is the motor rebuilt and then I am just left with paint and body work. Did I mention before I already sent the seats off to the upholstery shop? So ya that will be done before long too.

Been acquiring lot's of parts for my 68. NOS fog lights, NOS back up light, NOS door handles, NOS wheel cylinders, NOS wiper arms and lot's more. I just got these NOS mud flaps. I like them!

I recently sold this truck to a client of mine. Next month the engine gets rebuilt. We are just going to put this truck back on the road for now and not do any restorations. New seats, rebuilt engine and few other small things is all that is planned for now.
