Ha! I totally agree...in fact when I wrote that I was specifically thinking of Des Moines...a few years back I was driving my Cherokee straight-thru from Chicago to Portland (via 80, I'd driven East via 90/94)...middle of the night, in a massive thunderstorm, my water pump pulley decided to take a dump and shred my serpentine belt...was in the middle of a construction zone...had to change the belt in the pouring rain, cars whipping by, hoping I didn't get hit
Was able to get it down the hill to the offramp, amazingly enough there was a Dodge dealership right off the freeway!!! Slept in the parking lot and was parked at the entrance door of the shop when it opened the next morning, was in and out in 3 hrs, and made it the rest of the way with no issues
that was 41 straight hours minus the stop in Des Moines. So maybe my experience hasn't been so great (but a beautiful drive). :victory:
