The intended purpose of this vehicle: To drive approximate round trim distances of 750 to 1,000 miles to remote camping locations in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and after some experience.... Colorado.. basically south central U.S. I have been all over this world and into some of its most dangerous places and done some pretty spectacular offroad driving along the way, i have no desire to leave the continental United States... period.
Why this Vehicle?
1) i dont mind putting a dent or a scratch in a 31 year old vehical
2) the 351W/C6/NP205/Ford 9"/ D44TTB are all extremely durable powertrain options (not a prerunner person but ive seen the TTB in action)
3) it has no electronics controlling powertrain (generally low tech altogether)
4) i have another complete truck to steal parts off of.
5) it was already lifted
6) i can clear HMMWV Tires (125$ each with guaranteed 90% tread life)
7) it was 1,750 and has been the most dependable 4x4 i have owned to date.
8) it is really comfy and roomy
9) very very capable offroad with an excellent turning radius and wonderful ground clearanc
Whew,
with all of that being said, i will conclude with a current modification list (in addition to the above mentioned) and the current to do list.
i have an ARB Front winch bumper and Warn 9000I Winch with 15K Rope
the truck is equipped with a 6 inch suspension lift and 37 inch HMMWV tires
i built a skid plate for the fuel tank
i have a 5hp honda powered 110V generator/arc welder (courtesy of the military auction)
50 feet of weldind leads and the assorted PPE and supplies to go with it. ( ill post a pic sometime lol)
military auction fuel and water cans ( 2 water and 2 fuel )
just installed a 12k rated 2" receiver hitch from a 2002 superduty
ordered the MOLLE tactical seat covers with storage pouches
Thoughts: Building a roof rack that spans the removable hard top, and the actual cab of the truck
360* lighting and interior lighting (LED converted KC daylighters and Recon interior lighting)
i need to figure out sleeping arrangements, cooking ( ARB Fridge for storage ) and perhaps some creature comforts for the wife.
and anything else im missing you guys can share
PLEASE SHARE YOUR OPINIONS
i need experienced, seasoned input.
