Just in the interest of historical accuracy, Jeep dropped the Gladiator title in 1971. Trucks built after that were simply a Jeep truck. They had weight class designations like J10, J20, etc, but there was no more Gladiator.

And I could be wrong on this since its been a while but as I recall the 327 Vigilante V8 was long gone by 1984, so if that's the case and based on the photos, I'd say that is probably a standard good ol' AMC 360.

You know, looking a bit closer, there appears to be quite a bit of inaccuracy in this ad. It's not a Gladiator. Pretty sure that's a 360, possibly 401, but not a 327, and it definitely is not a 3 speed manual.

What exactly is your friend selling?

Looks to be a j10(6 lug axles), should be a 360 with a tf727 auto tranny if it is a stock drive train. 401 was long gone by '84 also.

Would love to remove this ad... From what I have been told now this is a J10 not a gladiator. TF727 seems to be the consensus too. Owner says 3 on the tree. Engine is not stock so your guess is as good as mine. Thanks for the insight, hopefully if someone is interested in the Mystery Machine, they will contact Dave directly to get to the bottom of it.
