Chevy M1010 military ambulance taken care of; under 29k original miles, 6.2l Detroit diesel, Turbo400 (T400) trans, NP208 tcase, D60 front, 14B rear, 4.56s and rear Detroit locker, aluminum rear box body with AC.

Would make great expedition vehicle. Easily modified with solid axles and leaf springs.

It had 6" of snow on it. Was told it last ran in early October (hard to believe). Batts are in parallel and not series. It doesn't start, but does crank great for 10 or so seconds. I do have trickle charger on them and get a strong crank that diminishes quickly (ie diesel). Oil (little thick, 27* outside) and trans (little much, may be due to street hill) look good. Radiator little low, but see no leaks. No leaks can be seen sitting on trailer.

Took lots of pics all around. Cab has no rust. Front wheel wells have surface rust but nothing through.

Rear box heater is missing. The fuel lines are there. The exterior door opens for it off the corner of the box. The pump is on the driver's fender next to master and is disconnected. Brake fluid was really low in front reservoir (rear brakes) and low in rear reservoir (front brakes). Filled it and pedal feels a lot better. Tires have great tread and are holding at 70psi. Sidewalls little dry. Tcase shifter is in weird position. Can't move it while locked down on trailer. Didn't think about it while loading (pushed onto trailer by bobcat). Indicator shows 2wd. No hold downs for batts.
Have KS tag/registration. Title in ~6 wks.

The military blackout light switches are behind the dash probably because any city employee can drive any city vehicle. KISS principle. Branson, MO police had it for 3 yrs. Then it was passed around from other city programs. Its been sitting and used little. Branson has had it since 2003. Do have copy of garage records.

Let me know what pics you'd like to see. I probably have it. My driveway is 23* and I have a steep hill in the street. I can't handle and maneuver non-running vehicles too easily. Thus price reduced for quick sale and to cover my expenses. $2700.

After reading up on issues, starting particular, for the CUCVs on another military specific forum, I've come to the conclusion the starting issue is the glow plug circuit, specifically, the relay resistor. The 24v resistor for the relay is still connected for a 24v system. The batteries are in parallel (12v, double amps), there is a by-pass setup that can be done to eliminate the resistor all together.
There is a receipt for a 12v starter in '07.

It has ran for the police before I picked it up, but that was during the summer when ambient temps were obviously a lot hotter.

Its located in the street and is difficult to work on. I do have to move it from time to time due to the city marking the tires. Lowered Price - $2700 for quick sale.

These truck have a dual voltage system. The truck is 12 volt but the starting and military stuff is 24 volt to be compatible with the military vehicles.

The glow plugs have two known issues. First they are 12 volt and use a resistor to work on the 24 volt system, if one glow plug fails the other glow plugs will see more than 12 volts and start a cascade failure. The second issue is the timing circuit has a high failure rate. It is common to change the glow plugs to the 12 volt buss and hook them to a push button starter switch under the dash.
