They aren't slow. It's a lot faster than the 81 cherokee I had which was a 6cyl 4 speed. I live at 5000 feet and it'll cruise up to Lake Tahoe on hwy 50 going up to about 6500-7000 feet and maintain the speed limit.

Long time lurker. First post.

Will be returning from an overseas tour and looking into building up an expedition vehicle/DD. What do you guys think? Came to the pro's to ask the pro's. What are some things to be cautious of and look/ask about? Any info will help and be great! Thanks in advance.

That is a lot of coin for an old used Cruiser. It has the 3B though which demands more coin. The 3B is a 4cyl. which is a small motor to move that much truck. I am not to keen on the 3B myself.

What to look for? Rust! The body has it's typical spots which I can't see on this one. The frame has some spots that should be looked at very closely. This being at the rear leaf hanger and at the very back of the frame rails.

I didn't see mileage listed in the ad.

My personal opinion, that is a lot of coin for that truck. I think you would be better off looking longer and harder. I have seen 12HT diesel Cruisers for that price before.

Cheers

Welcome.

It's a nice looking truck, but is on the pricey side. You might also do some research on the IH8MUD site in the 60 thread. Lots of good info.

Good luck.

That's a crazy price...
No ashtray, carpet does not match interior....
Looks like it was put together real quick......

Look for rust, I'm sure you will find some...

Personally I'd skip the 60 series platform and go 80 or 100 depending on budget. The difference in comfort between daily driving a 60 and an 80 is night and day. You could easily build an 80 for asking price of that truck.

32 MPG is cool but it will not get that after you add 1500lbs of accessories and larger tires. Maybe 25MPG then. So how many miles will you have to drive to recover the $1000's more you have to spend to get the diesel?

If you just love the FJ60 then cool. I really like its look and styling too but much prefer my 80 over the 60 I once had.
