i do have an amazing dad! and yes id like to do a d35 swap then eventually do the 8.8 swap. tires id like to just have 31's and a 2"-3" lift. for the inside i really would like to make a platform that folds up and sits behind the back seat but im trying to do mechanical stuff atm for now when i camp i just throw a bunch of blankets down. i always get vehicles and do more visual than logical and mechanical, trying to break that habit with this one

You probably can keep your stock 7.5" axle if you're going to run 31" tires, but for sure get the D35 for up front. However if after you get the 31s, and you then get an itch for even bigger, having the 8.8" already under there certainly would be nice... You'll want to decide this one for sure though before you start throwing anything like gears and a locker at it.

Go with spacers/washers for your front lift if all you want is a short lift. None of the lift coils that are out there are really tuned well for a BII (they'll be real stiff compared to your stock coils).

You'll be much better off with drop brackets and longer radius arms. The truck will ride better, the suspension with articulate more, and you will be able to align it.

I know - it all costs money. But keep this idea in the back of your mind as you build and drive your truck.

ive got brand new coils that are in the 400ppi range and ik i can keep my 7.5 for 31's i had 31's on my 86 ranger that was set up almost exactly the same as this truck

James Duff has a nice 3" kit that works well.

Also, stock BII coils IIRC are around 350PPI.

Yes. As junkie said, James Duff makes one. Rancho used to make a nice one - perhaps you could find one used.

Another advantage of the 8.8 axle, if you find one from and Explorer, you can get disk brakes.

Your 7.5 axle will handle 31" tires just fine.

got the truck finished and started today! not even the slightest grind on start up gotta do rear brakes soon and its running rough when i slow down so gotta figure out why but ITS RUNNING!!!

well i spoke to soon, i got literally feet from my driveway and i look down. tachs sitting on zero so i turn key off and coast into driveway, then i try to restart it and it isnt happening. battery reads 12.40, can hear fuel pump prime and i sprayed starting fluid in TB. could it be ignition control module or coil?

Could be either one of those or many other things...
You should have EEC-IV (OBD I) on that thing... Have you pulled the codes yet to see if they offer any clues?

pulled ignition control module today and replaced and it started. but now driving it stutters really bad in overdrive

thank you very much and i think the stutters is from map or o2 sensor. it wreaks of gas everytime it starts to stutter

O2 sensors only last about 80K miles. If yours are bad, (or even not working properly) by giving bad info to the computer, the engine will have running issues.
