Hi, new here
Looking at 1986 Bj70
178,000km, no rust other than on frame, original owner
diesel 24volt system
really nice shape

What sort of value does this have? Owner won't commit to price and has refuse $6000.00. I have no idea of how much this would be a fair offer.

Thanks

If it's just surface frame rust, then this sounds like a nice find. Link to FS add? He probably wants 10 or more for it, and can probably get it. These are typically way overpriced due to their rare nature. Try 8K.

I'd suspect that the seller is basing his/her estimate of a market value on sellers such as this specialist in imported LCs

Canadian spec BJ70 is LHD and worth considerably more than an imported BJ71/74 if all other things are equal. LJ71 is a Prado and a completely different vehicle.

Oops, I removed a lot of non BJs from the list after copy/past but missed those two.

Ditto on LHD likely having a higher market value, but these are some numbers to a prospective buyer can educate themselves with to know what similar options are out there.

Randell, best of luck.

Randell,

I just put up for sale my 1985 Canadian Spec. LHD BJ70 that was properly imported through a registered importer many years ago by the original owner, that is currently located in CO. It is licensed, registered titled and insured in New Mexico. If you would like more information and photos please PM me with your email.

This truck is a low KM, zero rust, fully equipped truck. It has the suspension front seats, an ARB front bumper with winch, Kaymar rear bmuper, Old Man Emu 2 1/2" suspension with 33X12.50 BFG muddies. Excellent condition. 3rd owner truck.

There might not be a nicer BJ70 in the country.

What are you asking? :D

Fwiw, 'nicer BJ70' may be subjective. Yours sounds tastefully built but we had a sub 10k mile BJ70 in the shop this last week, 100% original, back seat doesn't look like it ever had been sat in. I'm calling it the cleanest survivor BJ70 I've ever seen in the US, Canada on the other hand is another story ;)

Wow Kurt, under 10K miles? That is very impressive. I still believe that ours is one of the nicest in the States.

Let me know when your build is complete on your 74 and we can compare numbers. :)

Great to see you in Moab by the way.

FYI It sold for $20,000, not to me, original new price was $17,000
