We are selling our Adventurewagen Syncro with the help of Ray at North-Westy in Seattle, Washington (my wife and i are back to work in Alaska). The van is currently at North-Westy getting some warranty work done to the subaru engine and having some of the "work needed" items listed below addressed in prep for sale. It is fresh off a 3-month tour of the Western US & Canada. It's a unique combination of compact camper and capable off-road vehicle. Please contact Ray to see the van or with questions (serious inquiries only): 425-985-1805

The van is equipped with both front and rear differential lockers, which were just fully serviced in May 2013 and have worked well for us all summer. It also has a newly installed decoupler, allowing 2WD to be used while cruising the highway for better gas mileage, while also allowing less wear and tear on the viscous coupling. The viscous coupling has been tested, to the degree possible as explained on syncro.org and samba posts, and worked very well for us this summer.

The Adventurewagen is the top-of-the-line Vanagon full camper conversion. It contains ¼” oak parquet floors, black walnut accent pieces, TWO full sized beds, magnetic bug nets, stainless steel fresh water tank with in-line filter system, sink with pressure-regulated pump, grey-water tank, AC/DC refrigerator, furnace, *5 speed (incl. granny grear) manual transmission, locking gas cap, driving lights kit, and control panel to gauge propane, water tank holding tank levels and both main and auxiliary battery charge levels.

For those not familiar with the Adventurewagen, check out the sales brochure at links below. Thirty features are compared between the Adventurewagen and the Westy Camper GL (most deluxe version). Some of the features, such as balanced weight division instead of the Westy approach of placing all tanks, appliances and most of the cabinets and storage space within a few inches of the driver’s side wall does make a difference in drivability and stability. Other meaningful features include better rearward visibility, auxiliary battery system and three times the average storage volume and head room. The rear bumper was changed for extra fuel storage with jerry cans, only area with any rust to speak of. The lockable bumper interior holds hoses for the grey water tank etc. Horse power was increased from 95 to about 135 with Subaru engine/radiator. My wife and I lived comfortably in this vehicle for three months as we drove the American West after doing multiple trips in it around Alaska for three years. The previous owner lived in it for one year on a trip to South America (I am the third owner). All receipts from all owners are kept in a three-ring binder, documenting improvements and regular maintenance.

Work Needed: odometer stopped recently, rock chips in paint on front (clear coated), two cracks on windshield, needs new propane gas regulator, one AV window doesn’t open, and awning aluminum leg stand is cracked.
